MW is excited to announce another exciting series! Each segment will feature a new form of Code, Cipher, or Puzzle and offer directions on how they can be solved. This series is great way to learn about new methods of encryption being used in Armchair Treasure Hunts, and other types of puzzles. The first segment is on the Caesar Shift! MW codes, ciphers, and puzzle series continues with KeyWord Ciphers. This fun series helps understand how codes and ciphers can be used in treasure hunts. A keyword cipher was used in the 2001 Armchair Treasure Hunt: The Ultimate Quest. Anyone remember that? Lots of fun..!! I show some of my scribbles in the post...(The hunt remains unsolved; albeit discontinued) Read More: MW Code, Ciphers, and Puzzle Series: Keyword Ciphers

I'm not able to access Mysterious Writings to read these articles! Hi Goldhunter, (I think at the time of your reply the site was down from an overload of traffic) But if not, try this link which would take you to the 'category' of 'Codes and Ciphers' on Mysterious Writings where these are listed. I tried the links, and they seem to work, but may not for everyone. And...if that new link doesn't work either, than I suppose visit Mysteriouswritings.com, and then in the HEADER MENU under MYSTERY is the category 'codes and ciphers'. Thanks for reading and being part of the MW community!

The Bacon’s Cipher, or rather method of stenography, dates back to 1605, and was developed by Francis Bacon. Francis Bacon was an English Philosopher, Author, and Statesman, who was agent for Queen Elizabeth, and later King James. His many studies and works helped advance the sciences. Stenography conceals a message within a normal plaintext. The Baconian Cipher does this by applying two distinct representations for ‘A’ and ‘B’ and developing a biliteral alphabet key. One message not meant for us to solve, or at least those living on the Earth, is the coded like message created on the Pioneer Plaques. These two plaques were sent into space by NASA in effort to communicate with extraterrestrial life- if they happen to intercept or discover the messages. READ MORE ON MW: The Pioneer Plaques
