Interestingly, if you add up all of the letters the sum is 60, same as the number of pages.

The shadows on the top and bottom are on the same side, and those on the sides are opposite; example, take a look at "k" all around....or any other letter.

I have noticed the same on other pages but haven't spent a lot of time on it. Maybe I will revisit.

I wonder if the cover page is supposed to depict Frenchman bay? That bay gets big waves like what’s shown in the background...and the not so covertly hidden French flag.

I have never understood why everyone sees a French flag. The colors on my cover are red, YELLOW, blue not red, white, blue. Red, yellow, blue is the flag of Romania not France, And in both cases the colors are presented in reverse order of both flags, so either way its an upside down flag if it is in fact supposed to represent a flag.
(Oh, and I only see one - nicknack, where is the other on the cover?)

This is another case of “the yellow dot” if you will from page 11. Some books show a red white and blue flag. Some a red yellow and blue. One of them is over fandangos shoulder on the left side of the book. The second is under the shadow of the rose on the right side of the book is on a rock that is very red white and blue.

Ahh, I see the second one now. That one does look red, white and blue. BTW, I never have been able to figure out what that symbol on the white part is supposed to represent.
The one above his shoulder is definitely yellow, not white, on my cover. It is disconcerting if there are a lot of these variations between books. Or maybe they only occur where it is unimportant. Red, yellow, blue always made more sense to me than white as it is the same pattern on the croquet stake and also on the three keys in the middle of the upper left piano on the Key page (with the yellow key being an extra key on that piano). So there seemed to be confirming color patterns within the book.

So there seemed to be confirming color patterns within the book. There are two other extra keys on the pianos - one blue, one red. So, in total, the extra keys are blue, yellow, and red. Earlier on I thought red, white, and blue were important because of the absence of the American flag (replaced by the Maine state flag) on Old Flop's page. But now this makes me think the differences in the two front cover combinations [red, yellow, blue vs red, white, blue] is on purpose with the extra piano keys and croquet stakes confirming the red, yellow, blue combo and the purposeful lack of the red, white, blue American flag pointing us away from that combination.
