I always get scared its attached like a hanging trap from a lobster bouy you have to pull up from the water 😂😂 I'm so glad to see this question on here though....I keep wondering about that pesky 100ft quote too. Can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks for asking!

by my skimpy notes and vague memory, this was mentioned in a thread on tweleve* the Stockwells: "the solution would get one to within about 100 feet" which many people jump to the conclusion that 40 paces = ~100ft and therefore confirms the PACE FORTY SOUTH solve. *here's one occurance I found: "this relates to a comment made by the Stockwells that the solution would get one to within about 100 feet (this quote we found during the first month or so of our puzzling)." tweleve.org/fandango-key-wind/26111-status-fandango-puzzle.html which does NOT give the source of the original quote

I may have had a hand in starting that rumor with what I thought was a solve — that the box would be attached to a float or buey. (We even found one right on the edge of the park!). The problem was, in Maine, tampering with a buey comes with a $500 fine at the least. We declined to tamper, even though it had a phone number (which he called) that no one answered.
Hope this helps on that subject...

According to the Vitruvian man, a pace is equal to something entirely different (type of measurement).

Rumor. I can't find a thing where Pel actually said this. And I came across a 12 post where Astree (I think) admitted he may have assumed this because 40 paces is approx 100 feet.
I can tell you with 100% certainty, Pel never said anything like this in the Rick's Treasure World interview.

The only verbal interview that I know of that is still on the internet is the Rick's Treasure World, and I'm pretty sure the 100 foot remark was not in that, so agree with you. I recall realizing that 100 feet was about 40 paces when I came across the 100 foot remark, but not the other way around. I'm curious to read that post, if you can link it. Thanks, astree.

I think that quote was mine, and I said might be because i didnt have my notes and hadnt re listened to the interview when i made the post. Now having relistened to it, no, it was not the Ricks World interview. I believe there is some critical information in the puzzle, related to this, and we dont need the Stockwell quote about 100 feet to figure it out. I would like to find my notes, just for curiositys sake, though. I spent over half hour going through piles of paper and computer files (in addition to the Ricks World interview), and havent found it. By the way, as a side note, how many creatures feet (seen or hidden), are in all the images?

Good question. I'm not sure that has ever been asked.
