Thanks zaphod. I remember that now. The fact he had thought about being asked that question and that he concealed the date because of car rental records really does seem to imply a rental car was used.

Less than a few...well 'few' can mean scarcely any, so really he could've just taken a 'few' steps IMO.

Less than a few...well 'few' can mean scarcely any, so really he could've just taken a 'few' steps IMO. Quite so, Goldilocks! So often people have misconstrued that quote to mean that Forrest DID walk a few miles, but he said nothing of the sort. He placed no limit on how short the distance was -- to include ZERO. It's the same with his quote about time:
"If you can't make two trips from your car to your solve in several hours, then don't go."
He's not saying it WILL take you several hours to make those two trips. In the name of safety, he was trying to reel in the searchers who were hiking 3, 4, even 5 miles from their cars -- ONE WAY.

I am curious about where Forrest said he was in a rental car. I haven't been following closely lately and just didn't know he had said anything about renting a car. That's up in the air you can't figure that one out only if you New what day and year and month he hide it you might be able to. I'm sorry but I don't really see the point here - even if he did rent a car (assuming he flew) - or drive with it from his home in his personal car. If you did figure out the time and day from the rental agency or airport and knew the total distance (if you can even obtain those records) then what if he did some sightseeing on the way to or from hiding it - visited friends or maybe grabbed a $5 special at one of the drive thru restaurants. The mileage and times could be very misleading. Heck - maybe he even packed it on the back of a horse. Perhaps we are getting a bit trivial here. Forrest traveled quite alot and loved to venture off the beaten path. Just my opinion.

Hi wwwamericana: there is some relevance to knowing the date that Forrest hid the treasure. It probably wouldn't tell you or me any specifics about where (since in general we don't Forrest's whereabouts on a day-by-day basis back in 2009/2010), but it sure would be a tip-off to family members since they very well COULD know where he was or wasn't. And THAT information likely would eliminate either the two southern states or the two northern ones.

I always like to play with distances from his home to places. I thought that could help me find a spot to go and chill on the side of a mountain somewhere. I repeat this process over and over even while standing in the rain. I usually will start dancing and humming my old favorite tune. The birds always sang when I went in with my bow strang. If I go too far, it is only because that is the heading I put in the everdraw. Those records may not but those digits may be of use to those by his side. Where do you stand? The east side of the mountion where you need to be then take the side of the mountion north.

FallingRock - I'm afraid I am lost in the Wilderness. I've been crying for help for days but I am afraid I am losing my voice. If spring was here, I would go take a walk in my garden. Or climb high on a mountain top. Maybe I should just go take a shower........ I do so like singin in the rain. Question - Do you suppose FF could have hidden the TC prior to 2009-2010? Like maybe in the late '90's? Just a thought. (Be quiet brain!)

I probably would be reclined on top of a spread of tall bluegrass, soaking up the rays (or rain) and listening to the sounds from heaven. I might even pluck a piece or two of grass, put it in my mouth and pretend I was Huck Finn. My brothers and my sons all loved reading Mark Twain. I even think I see a bald eagle soaring high in the sky - ohhhh how I wish I could fly. Attachments:

Math fun: $17 a square inch, 12 inches in a foot, anyone who dies with over $50 is a failure. Multiply the three.
