That was the original comment made by Jenny, to begin this thread.
Since then, posters have talked about all sorts of things supposedly related to FF's comment ... did he rent a car, were a few miles the total miles or one way, what are the dimensions of the chest, and so on. None of these subsequent comments shed any light on solving the poem, in my opinion.
Reading through this thread I am constantly amazed by what is
not discussed, here.
The idea is that, through his comment of searchers needing to walk less than a few miles, FF is trying to suggest less hiking, maybe to as little as 200 yards, as proposed by one person.
Posters, and searchers generally, aren't very good at connecting desperate ideas, to understand potential contradictions. And there's one glaring contradiction in this thread, and it is expressed as an omission >>> the idea that following WWWH (as the first clue), searchers are then given 8 (eight) clues for an area that one would walk/hike ...
That all the clues except WWWH are part of the outdoor hiking adventure after one leaves one's car is a very popular theory. Yet, why would one need 8 clues for the hiking part of the treasure hunt, if as Forrest says searcher does not need to walk very far?
To my knowledge posters have
never addressed this issue, despite the obvious implications. If 8 clues are
not needed, specifically because the hike is fairly short, then some of those clues are driving clues, which posters will never ascertain.
I don't think searchers want to address this contradiction, because I think they are afraid that it will force them to rethink their current locational theory, and therefore require them to start all over again.
So while readers ponder all these ancillary, and uninteresting, issues related to Jenny's original message from Forrest, a wise reader will explore the possibility that this relatively small walking/hiking distance is correct, but the popular idea of needing 8 clues to hike that small distance is false.
So which is it … (A) hike a long distance, which could realistically require 8 clues, or (B) hike a fairly short distance, which might require 2 or 3 clues but certainly not 8?
If you are a serious searcher you can't have it both ways; you will need to address this issue at some point. But there are so many shallow comments made on internet message boards, it may be that many so-called searchers, and posters, aren't really serious about FF's treasure hunt at all, a theory I have long suspected.
