I wanted to create a sit where people can share low cost BOTG ideas. I want to head out again in a month or two, but I'm trying to think of the cheapest way possible.
I don't mind sleeping in my car. I don't mind making pb and j for a few days.
What other ideas do we have to reduce either travel expenses, equipment, or costs upon arrival?

Find some place that does it all for you - reduces the packing too. Then sit back in the saddle and relax; take in the views. A little ole time singing wouldn't hurt either - passes the time when it is moving rather slowly.

Not to sound like a commercial, but I am in love with my Delta sky Miles credit card. I put my whole life on that one card, and I get so much reward travel. I put my auto insurance, cell phone, all purchases! I also book my car rentals through Costco. It will save a ton. I also eat canned soup, simple sandwiches.

Do you have a gold, platinum, or silver card? I have a silver one. I'm sure you are mistaken - don't think Costco rents cars. Maybe they do if there is an airport nearby. I like Campbell's Tomato soup (the real thing) - grilled cheese sandwiches - and Custard for desert. How about you guys? I tell you this chase is so filled with mystery and suspense - it's a real cliffhanger. Prob would make a good book. I'm a reader tho not a writer. Oh - gotta run my little Rose is calling.

I started off with a gold card and now I have a platinum. And for sure I have saved a ton of money renting cars from Costco. Go to Costco.com and then choose travel and then choose rental cars. Of course you have to be a Costco member. When I went on vacation to Utah, it saved me at least $350 for a week and a half rental. And as a Costco member, you get a second driver for free.

Do you have a gold, platinum, or silver one. Mine is just the silver. I think you are mistaken about Costco renting cars. If there is an airport nearby you might try them, usually they have one or two loaners available. I also love soup and sandwiches. Only Campbell's Tomato soup (it's the real thing) and of course you gotta have a grilled cheese sandwich. For desert - custard of course! This Chase is so dang full of mystery and suspense - turning into a real cliffhanger. What do ALL of you guys think? Oh - gotta run my little Rose is calling.

I need to drop a letter off to mail - do you know where the closest Post Office is? Hopefully, I can grab a bite to eat while I'm in town too.

I drove my personal car out there when I went BOTG for the first time, but girlfriend went with me. So we got an Airbnb and stayed in a hotel while we drove.
When I go it's just going to be me sleeping in my car or camping.
It's about 250 in gas to get there. If I can spend 50 bucks on food and coffee that puts me up to 300.
I want to get waders because the river I crossed last time is just getting deeper. Those are about 75. I want to get some hiking poles and better hiking boots too. Those together will be about 150 dollars.
Aside from that I think I have all that I need.
That puts me at about 500.

Remember what the old fart said “anyone who dies with over $50 is a failure.”

It’s all done online. It’s like renting a car from Hotwire or Expedia or priceline. You can pick the car company you want like Alamo or Enterprise, Avis or budget, etc. When you Rent a Car, say a husband and a wife, Usually it would cost extra to have both the wife and the husband to be able to drive. With a Costco reservation, both people are able to drive without any extra cost.
