I don’t understand the Invictus reference? It doesn’t come from the Brad Pitt scrapbook, right?

FF: "Out of the night that covers me, Dark is the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be, For my unconquerable soul. I think that's a good place to stop, don't you?"
Forrest changed "Black is the pit" to "Dark is the pit". Pit/Pitt?

PITT >>> PI TT >>> two PI >>> circle.

The earth has d’arc from pole to pole. From pole to pole, the earths diameter and arc make the D...D arc. Was the use of “Dark” a mistake on Forrests part, or a commentary on “the pit”?

I feel the tar that he waterproofed he backyard bell and the bronze sculpture he imprinted with the burlap texture might be in play here. Maybe to keep Indulgence safe, he wrapped it in burlap and covered it in tar.

I think changing pit to (Brad) Pitt is "a conspiracy theorist" stretch to see what you want to see. (I've seen many, many conspiracy theories posted on various "high profile" sites. and 9/10 times it's an obnoxious stretch of connecting the faintest of dots that aren't really there)
If anything, I would say Forest would be subtly highlighting the color black (by omitting it from the poem) Which fits with his color theme (...containing nine clues that if followed precisely, will lead to the end of my rainbow and the treasure)

Okay, Kaotkbliss, here's a little more fodder for your conspiracy theorist line: Assume the intended hint is Pulpit Rock (of Diggin Gypsy fame, but many have been there). Invictus: "Dark is the *pit* from *pole* to pole" SB 115: Sonja Jane *Pul*ver and Brad *Pitt* SB 123: Picture of *pet* pigs on rocks and next to a pole: pole-pet-rock -- "They were so adorable climbing on the rocks around my yard and eating my daffodils." SB 172: The support for Forrest's bell came from Kiva A: a pole in a pit surrounded by rocks: dalneitzel.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/2017-04-01-05.59.59.jpgSB 180: "… just as Sam drew his putter back to make the stroke, the natty guy hiccupped, causing the putt to jerk left a few inches and unceremoniously roll past the hole." Snead was right-handed, meaning he "pulled the putt" TFTW pg. 178: Mr. Carruthers campaigning with fervor: "He got up on a rock and started addressing the guests" -- sounds to me like he was at the pulpit on the rock. If you're skilled at pattern recognition, confirmation bias is easy. ;-)

Stonerolledaway and I were discussing at Fennboree the Native American style of sinking a vessel in soil to store corn. Pit/ Pitt means a hollow cavity. Jenny has mentioned this a few times. So has Forrest. I believe the Chest is 'hidden' below ground. Not 'buried' as in buried six feet under, buried just in the sense the chest is not out in the open. One of my thoughts is how Forrest said items were hidden in San Lazaro Pueblo. In his book, 'Secrets of San Lazaro Pueblo, he shows an image of how he found some 'secreted items'. I've always felt maybe he hid the chest in a similar way. (image below) So to retrieve the treasure would be to find the blaze which marks the spot and lift the stone which hides the treasure chest. As one option.

Here's what I have been thinking - Black is the pit - Dark is the pit - Brad Pitt Black is Dr. Black and Pitt is Anthony Pratt With this thinking in mind and using what is in ff's pockets - The location of the chest is 39.296, -106.73491

If you're skilled at pattern recognition, confirmation bias is easy. ;-) I read through each of those SBs, and each of those references still seems a pretty big stretch, especially since that only 4 entries out of 100 (100 - 200) Although there is a difference between Fenn's hunt and conspiracy theories. Fenn actually hid a treasure and left clues, whereas nearly all the conspiracies are simply strange delusions looking for any miniscule connection they can find.

Kaot: I think you are going to be disappointed by the solution to Forrest's puzzle if/when it is ever made public.

Kaot: I think you are going to be disappointed by the solution to Forrest's puzzle if/when it is ever made public. HAHA In my effort to write exactly what I meant and convey that meaning clearly in my reply, I omitted an entire thought. So let me continue with: Because the hunt and the treasure are real (unlike many of the conspiracies) that does make your point more plausible since intended clues don't have to be abundant and could possibly be spread out and thin. Although, while I haven't discounted them completely, I do find them very unlikely.

Kaot: I think you are going to be disappointed by the solution to Forrest's puzzle if/when it is ever made public. Why, Z? Do you generally think many people will be disappointed?
