As the latest clue released yesterday stated... the word REALIZED is key to solving the riddle.
It seems the other two previous clues might have been hinting to this as well:
So is it anagram, definition, or something else that is important with the word?
Here is the definition:
verb past tense: realized; past participle: realized 1. become fully aware of (something) as a fact; understand clearly. "he realized his mistake at once" synonyms: register, perceive, discern, be/become aware of (the fact that), be/become conscious of (the fact that), notice; More 2. cause (something desired or anticipated) to happen. "his worst fears have been realized" fulfill. "it is only now that she is beginning to realize her potential" synonyms: fulfill, achieve, accomplish, make real, make a reality, make happen, make concrete, bring to fruition, bring about, bring off, consummate, perform, carry out, carry through, execute, actualize, effect; More 3. give actual or physical form to. "the stage designs have been beautifully realized" use (a linguistic feature) in a particular spoken or written form. MUSIC add to or complete (a piece of music left sparsely notated by the composer). 4. make (money or a profit) from a transaction. "she realized a profit of $100,000" synonyms: make, obtain, clear, acquire, gain, bring in, reap; More (of goods) be sold for (a specified price); fetch. "the drawings are expected to realize $500,000" convert (an asset) into cash. "he realized all the assets in her trust fund" synonyms: cash in, convert into cash; More Origin

It seems the importance of 'Realized' has gone un-realized....

Jenny with the "dad jokes?" Love it.
For the riddle, has anyone considered the word "cocktail?" A chicken is like a turkey, has a pointy head and feathers on the butt. If anyone is a horse enthusiast, I recommend you look up the origin of the word cocktail, since it has an interesting early use. I've done some research into cocktail recipes from online bartender manuals, but I couldn't make anything work. Pete mentioned a cocktail recipe in Dustin's MW article from last August, and with Pete previously hiding clues in promotions for the book treasure hunt (I think it was a 1 plus 1 equals 2 reference), a cocktail recipe origin might lead you to a bar and our 4" x 4" small, but precise location in the US.

Seeing that we are at the end of the month, I've been taking another stab at the riddle. "Realized" is still evading me, although Pete feels like the word is almost a giveaway.
Anyone else giving this another look and care to bat this around?

Hi Coy! It is funny how Pete seems to feel 'Realized' is the key to it all, and yet it has us all completely stumped.... I haven't realized anything different to take us to that finish line.
Nothing for June...but maybe July!
Real Eyes D ?
first two - last two- REED
Maybe the book is used to find the answer? Fifth chapter specifically??

Thank for responding, Jenny.
I batted around the thought yesterday that REALIZED might be used in the sense of "coming into an understanding of". Such as, coming into an understanding of Bourbon Red (Read). I hunted historical markers related to the history of bourbon.
Another historical bourbon area, and mentioned in the book, is Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Street signs on Bourbon street are affixed to gas lamp stands that are diamond shaped. Pointy heads, the street labels being feathers?
I've also looked through the book for the word REALIZED. In chapter 2, A Stack of Clues, page 8, Nels shares, "but when they realized I knew the signpost to a pot of gold, they remained committed and excited." This line, paired with the Finding Treasure paraliminal's, "A sign of information pointing to clear patterns of discovery." appears to indicated a sign - a sign post is usually a 4" x 4" x X". But who really knows. Hah.
I'm trying to keep it simple and apply it back to the book and its story.
I submitted several things but nothing I totally "love" as responses.

I always thought it might be in reference to a fly fishing lure. Maybe a famous lure called a "Bourbon Red" that's in a little frame somewhere in a fly fishing museum? Going with realized=handcrafted. I never pursued this angle to the end, but if you think I'm onto something, you can take it and run with it!

Nude is a stretch but...
When you realize something, you know it. past tense: when you realized something, you knew it.
So if something WAS realized, it was knew-d.
Yeah, well, just thinking outside the box. I've only read the riddle a few weeks ago for the first time, but I think the correct interpretation of 'realized' will be a play on words.

I've been looking for a matching flagpole because: 1. something on a flagpole flies. 2. Some standard bases of flagpoles are 4 x 4 inches. 3. Some flagpoles have pointy tops. 4. The base of a flagpole is called a butt.
But...if that were the answer, you wouldn't need to figure out REALIZED.

Another reason why I like a flagpole is because it doesn't move. I found it odd that he doesn't say "what am I" but "where am I?" So it would have to be a stationary object that flies. It could be a famous plane in a museum, but that wouldn't give a 4 x 4 inch piece of land.

Going with realized=handcrafted. I never pursued this angle to the end, but if you think I'm onto something, you can take it and run with it! When I read the poem, I don't think that the item has anything to do with a Bourbon Red. I think he's saying that this item is like that turkey because it has a pointy head and feathers in its butt. And it flies.
