Important Literature Books & The Search States Found w/in Them:1. For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway 2. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - Montana made him a millionaire
- New Mexico
3. The Outlaw Trail: A Journey Through Time by Robert Redford - Montana
- Wyoming
- Colorado
- New Mexico
4. Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger - Montana - (by way of the Yellowstone National Park reference)
- Wyoming - (by way of the Yellowstone National Park reference)
5. Kismet: An "Arabian Night" in Three Acts by Edward Knoblock - None - This is actually a play written into a book, though, so might not count as a "book".
Conclusion:Other than the Kismet, which could technically be considered a play instead of a book, the only search state that is mentioned in all four books referenced in the Important Literature chapter of TTOTC is the state of Montana. "It seems logical to me that a deep thinking treasure searcher could use logic to determine an important clue to the location of the treasure... f"

Wonderful summary..... So are you looking in Montana? Yeah, I’ve bailed on New Mexico and now believe pretty strongly that it’s somewhere around the Wyoming/Montana border.

So many searchers recently have moved from NM to the North around Yellowstone.....

To mention one of the early believed hints for this chapter was the fact Borders was mentioned/used...and many felt this linked in with WWWH...and the borders of CO and NM....
Or I suppose any 'Borders' in general....
Does anyone still feel that?

Hi Jenny: absolutely. A single chapter with Border's (sic), Borders and borderline biddies was all the convincing I needed.

The only thing I really took from that chapter was "a river runs through it."
Beyond that I didn't take very much. I think the "biddies" chapter was more convincing for a "border" hint.

My take away from Important Literature is that the books listed above plus others including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and A Farewell to Arms are all on the list of controversial/banned books. Maybe there's a more general message here about pushing the borders/edges in life rather than specific info. mentioned within each book.
