And is it Nickerson or is it Gillette Castle State Park? Why not both? one for "A disposable razor" and one for "gives a nick."

Nice find on the State Parks, which I completely agree. However, I actually read that last line differently. She may be saying that it is in a park, but not a State Park. I also would not say that eliminates CT.

Once you have a list... I had played around with an acrostic or anagram even of first letters...
I think we need a park (or two) for the line: When on the ground, I reach to pick
I had thought maybe 'Winslow SP in NH' (low on ground to score a win/find)...Not convinced though...
And I think maybe Hammonasset Beach SP might be for the second line....or another....
And not all are State Parks.... Tassel Top and Oakledge aren't, but they seem to match the clues...
But if something like an acrostic/anagram is given....it could be with or without CT parks....
For instance, currently we do have 3 Maine Parks: Owl's Head Tassel Top Wolf's Neck
Which 'Could' give TWO?

If there is something more hidden in the clue, than just park names, like an acrostic, then the part with Rock Hard Cake probably gives a name too, and might be needed.

Here's two more which fit: Pawtuckaway State Park in NH Salty Brine state Beach in RI
It looks like each line should map onto two park names; at least the first 9 lines are working out that way for me, minus a "rock-hard cake" and a breaking bay.

Well...I was thinking it meant somewhere not in CT, but not necessarily a state park. But you may be right. Yes, you're right, also good way to think of it.

Nice finds!!! Are we building an elimination list then?? I guess we'll find out with clue #3. And you're not so bad with riddles btw even though you hate them!

I also would not say that eliminates CT. Could be but...if that were true, you wouldnt need the book. And she said that you need the book to solve the clues.

Another thought...what if she hid it in one of the parks she refers to, minus ct?

Another thought about the clue. Since she lives in a suburb of Boston and her dad worked in CT, maybe her reference to her dad's direction means it's not in a park south of Boston which would rule out CT AND RI.
