Nice find on the State Parks, which I completely agree. However, I actually read that last line differently. She may be saying that it is in a park, but not a State Park. I also would not say that eliminates CT. Could be but...if that were true, you wouldnt need the book. And she said that you need the book to solve the clues. That would not mean you still don't need the book. I'm sure the clues are going to work in conjunction with places named in the book.

I don't think so. She doesn't name any places in the book like those.

I don't think so. She doesn't name any places in the book like those. She names tons of places in the book form beaches, parks, stores, city names, schools, etc... and I'm sure her clues are going to coincide with things mentioned in the book or else what would be the point of reading the book and her giving clues?

As I read, I kept asking myself what part of this is actually true? For instance, when I first read the phrase "North Forty" I immediately assumed we'd have to go 40 steps north at some point. But the treasure really was buried in the North 40 part of Floyd Bennett Field.
You'll notice her book doesn't mention a thing about her treasure hunt, unlike other books like Fandango and Treasures Trove which are ATH books. Her book is an autobiography that has a treasure hunt associated with it on the side.
So...to me at least, it means that most things mentioned in the book are just places she actually went to, but not necessarily clues.
That's just the way I interpret it.

I'm not doing this hunt and I don't have the book. However, I glanced at the clues because I grew up in New England. The clues (to me) scream Vermont. Starting with clue 1 and the maple leafs. Vermont is known for its maple trees and tapping them for syrup. It is Vermont's staple.
Clue 2- Dorset Vermont is home to Emerald Lake state park also Owl's head town Forrest. Also home to the largest quarry in the US (falling mine). There is also an Emerald Lake Natural bridge.

..Perhaps the extra clues are simply pointing you to the correct state. Burlington Vermont is home to Oakledge Park and the Burlington breakwater lighthouse. (A pointed light, saltwater breaking on the bay).

Hi all! I’m new here and your posts have been very insightful. This is the first hunt I’ve tried. While everything I’ve read makes sense - I’m wondering if it could be more simple than we assume. Is it possible the clue is just pointing us to look for a state park? Then you use the book to find that park - HB? Maybe the last line is just sending you in the right direction once you are actually in the park.
Again, I’m very new to this. Just trying to get an idea from all of you if I’m way off base or not... are the solutions ever simple like that?

Very well could be. I've thought of that tactic as well. At first I thought HB with the acrostic BEACH meant H Beach State Park, probably Hammonasett since that's where they named a campground after her dad. But her latest clue made me think that's not it. I *almost* made the trip down there just to poke around. But I think that park would be too obvious to anyone who read the book.

I can’t remember where I saw it but I thought I read that it was going to be an X marks the spot kind of hunt which made me think it’s possible that she will reference things in the book that will make an X on a map; where the middle of the X is the park or area where the token was placed. This was a first idea of mine as far of the structure of the hunt. However, now that I’ve completed the book - it’s clear that a major theme is the love she seeks due to her upbringing and that the relationships she’s had (especially her romantic relationships) are important in her story. That has me thinking that the X marks the spot could have more to do with her ex, named Mark, is where she found her spot. It’s an idea that I’m holding onto. This idea is also why I think the four things she talks about in Clue #5 might be hinting at the four relationships she focuses on the book; though, other than “song” possibly referencing the LA boyfriend, I haven’t really placed the others.

I hadn’t heard about an x marks the spot theory before. Thank you for sharing. On clue 5, I was super confused. My initial reaction was that each answer would have the same word “x” but then we had to find what “another” stood for as well. But then someone wrote that “time” was the answer which makes sense. I guess I’m still super confused. Lol

The person who suggested 'time' was just coming up with a word he/she thought might fit all of those scenarios, but it doesn't seem like that answer has anything to do with the book.

I haven't heard anything about X marks the spot. Are you sure you're not getting this confused with Digital Buried Treasure?

I haven't heard anything about X marks the spot. Are you sure you're not getting this confused with Digital Buried Treasure? [/quote] I found it - it’s on the main treasure hunting page of her website in the answer to “How do I participate?” sandraamiller.com/treasurehunt/It reads “Once you have a clue, you can try and figure out the answer. But you’ll likely need all eight clues (yep, there are eight) to figure out where X marks the spot.“ I’m not following the Digital Buried Treasure hunt; so, no, I’m not getting it confused with this one.

I think she’s just speaking metaphorically there, meaning you’ll need all 8 clues to find where the stone is hidden. That’s just my take on it.
