Clue 2!

I can’t remember where I saw it but I thought I read that it was going to be an X marks the spot kind of hunt which made me think it’s possible that she will reference things in the book that will make an X on a map; where the middle of the X is the park or area where the token was placed. This was a first idea of mine as far of the structure of the hunt. However, now that I’ve completed the book - it’s clear that a major theme is the love she seeks due to her upbringing and that the relationships she’s had (especially her romantic relationships) are important in her story. That has me thinking that the X marks the spot could have more to do with her ex, named Mark, is where she found her spot. It’s an idea that I’m holding onto. This idea is also why I think the four things she talks about in Clue #5 might be hinting at the four relationships she focuses on the book; though, other than “song” possibly referencing the LA boyfriend, I haven’t really placed the others. You may very well be right after all! After Clue 5, I thought I knew exactly where it was. It fit the clue perfectly. But a BOTG trip revealed absolutely nothing. And then this latest clue has absolutely no connection to it, but the last clue has not relation to this one. Maybe the clues are all pointing to different places that will map out an X. Great theory!

A pointed light: Lighthouse Point Park in CT? Breaking by the bay: Bayside Park in VT? I reach to pick: Appletree Point Park in VT?

This clue is really bugging me. I think there's more to it than just names of state parks. It comes near the beginning of the hunt. Any chance figuring out this clue leads to solving the whole thing? If she was just trying to tell us to find state parks, why did she have some non-state parks?
I've been trying to find a common pattern in each stanza.
Here's what I've come up with so far:
Each stanza refers to the names of parks. Most stanza reference four parks, except the fifth.
The parks in each stanza are in different New England states.
Each stanza has a mixture of state parks and non-state parks. It looks like each stanza has a different mixture.
That's it. I've tried to plot them out by stanza to find a common pattern, but haven't gotten anywhere.
Also, I thought "A dinosaur's print" meant Dinosaur State Park in CT, but it could mean Dinosaur Footprints Park in Holyoke, MA. It fits better.
So to sum up past posts, here are what I think are the parks:
Stanza 1 I found an owl’s head tucked away/Salt water breaking by the bay.
Owls Head State Park, ME Pawtuckaway State Park, NH Salty Brine State Park, RI ?
Stanza 2 A dinosaur’s print like a rock-hard cake/A falling mine, an emerald lake.
Dinosaur Footprints Park, MA Pillsbury State Park, NH Mine Falls Park NH Emerald Lake State Park VT
Stanza 3 A pointed light, a natural bridge/A tassel top, an oak on a ledge.
Lighthouse Point Park, CT Natural Bridge State Park, MA Tassel Top Park, ME Oakledge Park, VT
Stanza 4 When on the ground, I reach to pick/A disposable razor gives a nick.
? (Maybe Grassy Plains Park RI?) ? Gillette Castle State Park, CT Nickerson State Park, MA
Stanza 5 So why not a wolfe, or a snake in a den/For recreation now and again?
Wolfe Park NH (or Wolfe's Neck State Park, ME) Snake Den State Park, RI
That's all I have. I just have this nagging feeling that this clue is important.

"A father’s direction does not always state The place in which the treasure awaits".
I thought all the lines did correspond to state parks?
I've been interpreting the clue as simply - It's in a state park somewhere.
And since clue number 3 point to "beach", I assume it's a state park that has a beach.
Clue 4 seems to be pointing to Gloucester and clue 5 mentions stages - Stage Fort Park would fit as it has two beaches. But it is a city park.

They're not all state parks: Oakledge Park Mine Falls Park Tassle Top Park
are not.
I don't necessarily think Clue 3 points to beach. I know that the first letter of the chapters is an acrostic for beach, but that doesn't involve numbers at all and she says that five numbers and math are needed.
What makes you think Clue 4 is pointing to Gloucester? I got something totally different.

No - I read the book.
Flawless answer to the place of a great tempest screams out Perfect Storm and Gloucester to me. But that may be the red herring part of the clue.
The five numbers of Beach are the chapter numbers 28; 2; 19; 22; 11.

I know those are the five chapters. But if the answer is beach, you wouldn’t need to know the chapter numbers and math, you would only need the chapter names.

No need to over think this. "At 19 it began ..." Chpt 19 = Berm = B No math - just a simple hint to the acrostic that starts with B.

Clue 4 seems to be pointing to Gloucester and clue 5 mentions stages - Stage Fort Park would fit as it has two beaches. But it is a city park. I just got back from checking out Stage Fort Park. That's as good a guess as any. I found a maple tree that fit Return to Treasure Island to a T! But no stone. I looked at every crack within about 12 feet. I pulled out leaves with a stick, bent down and peered inside, and even reached my hand into the unknown. Nothing.
It might very well be there, but I couldn't find it.
I only saw about 3 maples in the entire park, and that's the only one that fit the description.

Yes. Not a very large park and mostly open. But I think Gloucester might still be part of an answer. The fifth clue I think relates to time with stages being reference to time (days, hours, minutes, seconds) which fits with the "watches" in the clue as well. Her mother gave her a timex watch.

I've already been to Halibut Point twice now and Ravenwood once.
The reason I thought Stage Fort may have been it is because it's the site of Tablet Rock. Wikipedia says it was where Native Americans would hold rituals.
So there's "a native altar."
And tablet as in writer's tablet, a writer's tool.
So promising.

For ‘rock-hard cake’, I was thinking that Madison Boulder Natural Area, New Hampshire, might be a pretty good fit.
