Balcutha, formerly Pacific Queen. moved from pier 41 in 1988 to present mooring. basically from bottom of Powell to bottom of Hyde. both have terminations at Ghiradelli Square roundabout though. alignment junkies, alcatraz thru pier 41 to ? ah, finally, i can put that verse behind me. onward.

I also think it's Thayer. Also hint from the book about China; Cathay... C. A. Thayer.

Hi guys, I have solved this puzzle to my own satisfaction, that doesn't mean I am correct. In my opinion, high poles are 3, let me start at the beginning. The key image for this puzzle is the table with the rose and the clock. As I have said before, that tells you where to start the hunt. The table image is the dutch windmill in the northwest corner of the Golden Gate Park. The 3 rose petals above the table are the 3 highest blades of the windmill. The leaf under the table is the lowest blade of the windmill. 3 poles are high are the highest 3 blades of the windmill. The clock most likely represents the flower garden next to the windmill. There's a door into the stone wall of the windmill (at stone walls door). That's the starting point.

Nice work Linda and Choice! I agree it's the Thayer with the clues you have both pointed out. Cathay...brilliant! I also didn't know about the Thayer being one of 123 three-masted schooners...gives the roman numerals in Image 1 another purpose besides just being a geographic coordinate.
