I have another question...Is weather a factor in retrieving the treasure and key at this time of the year?

The chest and key are both in tricky spots on a nice, sunny day! Please be careful out in the elements! Good luck!

Made it through the first three cyphers, but hit a seriously with the dark blue text. Maybe I need more coffee (maybe I need less coffee?). I've also got an idea that the cranberries are actually Winterberry, based on the leave shape, but I can't see what significance that would have.

Ugh... I can't get the extra purple dotted letters. Sure, I can get the first cipher, but it seems there should be a 2nd cipher with the polka-dotted letters. Perhaps it is a purple herring?!?
I am also struggling with the "match-sticks", as others seem to have called them.
I am enjoying the hunt/ciphers so far.

I posted on the Facebook group under Beths post she made there about the upper left line in the image being the park loop road and the heart being Bar harbor. It looks to me like that upper left line is for sure the park loop road, it looks like it goes and and hits sand beach, which could be the two parallel lines down there (looks like the sand line looking from satellite. The emerald cut looking gem looks to be about where Great Head is labeled in google maps also. That coast line right there looks to be steep, rocky area, with lots of white veins running up the cliffs to the trees. Has any one searched the Great Head area yet?

I believe I posted that the heart is a symbol for "the Heart of Acadia", which is also another way of referring to Loop Road.
The lines that criss-cross are what I believe to be Bar Harbor.
I think the green gem might be a tourmaline, the state gem for Maine.

Looking at google satellite at the 360 degree ground picture from great head sure looks like it could have similar terrain to the cliff image on the illustration. There are visible white veins in the google picture. I’ve had no time to work on more the codes but I feel like that section is a map to the sand beach parking lot (the skull), sand beach (the two parallel lines), and maybe indicating to hike down away from the parking lot towards the point there. Which btw that point could very well be one depicted in the Facebook video he posted of the hunt. Then If the gem is an indicator to head up that way (I def could be wrong) it would put you on the great head trail. I have absolutely no decoded ciphers from the puzzle to back up this location but if I lived there, I’d take a look around. I would maybe follow every white vein I came across up the cliff into the tree line and scope all those trees closely. .

Finally some quiet time, felt a need to check in... I browse a fair bit without signing in though... reading takes time. Anyway... Yesterday I was reading here and for the first time I recall, someone mentioned that rather obvious faceted jewel in the corner surrounded by the brown bit... trunk or root or? I'm not sure... the main trunk of the tree / shrub or whatever it its is straight along what we first saw as the lower left of the image... I've spent much of my free time looking for things that I did not see mentioned in the general discussion and I have a few things... but for this visit, I will just offer 3 images... I admit 'borrowing' one, but while capable of taking a close up, I just couldn't find my own subject... but likely I'm not guilty of anything there either... since I had hundreds to choose from First our 'map' clue rotated to the right... You can see the gem in upper left, note the brown 'notch' Then I came across this little 'known' fact... about an owl hidden on a US 1 dollar bill And I immediately popped back to the original map... saw the gem again and the notch... and went looking to see if there were any on google maps... and there was... not exact, but very close... (I just noticed I've misplaced the map image from the road map. will get it over later). Still didn't stop me from having a look there... Verona Island, where the highway bends suddenly southward, around a bend and over the bridge then south again... OK it looks like the image... so what Well being in Google Maps, I wanted to see what was in that relative position where the Owl is staring out at us... What do I find right there... The Unique Rock Shop... Verona Island ME... lots of goodies for sale there... lots of crystals... and amethyst and tourmaline made into all sorts of goodies... that's a bit more than coincidence... given the 'booty' images... but again it's only a location for that... not the real 'prize'... Oh... another of my searches or re searches as the case may be... up at the top, I noticed in the blue cloudy sky drawn there is the image of what appears to be a lighthouse... and that odd wiggly line that has two parts. I was looking at photos of 'all' Maine lighthouses past and present... there are quite a bunch that sort of match the one in the clouds... however there is a dearth of photos from all the possible angles that one could view them from... so I won't claim that it is the prize hide area, but might be worth thinking over until spring... and this little search about the owl... of which you can see mostly the face... it's an owl, they seem to be all face. and the face takes up the whole head... and I thought about one light that I had seen Owl's Head... and guess what... that highway takes you down to Rockland and then Owl's Head... but might be no more than a red herring of course given other clues... but it is interesting... and quite a way from MDI . I'm speculating that it is no more than a clue that would bring you to that region of Maine, at least for those that favoured Arizona at first... or even Virginia...

That's funny, I never even noticed that gem. When people talked about the gem, I thought they meant this:
Good catch about the owl Never knew that either.

Just me again... Hi to Susb8383 Found the errant map from my previous... this is just the sat image with brown line on the highway and a blue arrow to the Unique Rock Shop. Like I said... more of a lure to the area, and a tip of the hat to a 'supplier' maybe... but very coincidental... not! I hope people remember to click on that thumbnail it is a bit bigger. Currently still trying to solve the ciphers well... I seem to have become rusty there... Still re looking at that lighthouse in the sky.. Also started trying to fit that Park Loop Road into the maps etc. better... I do this a lot and while I see the rough fit... there are small details that could shift things from where you think you are looking. I find myself wondering about if the artist was scale shifting... on us... still it seems to fit well enough to be the right area it seems to represent... but on the images and maps it could be a ways from what is thought... Someone wrote about that grayish ' 6 finger glove' as being tailfeathers... doesn't look that way to me, but good for now... Did you know there is a feature on GE and others that call one area thereabouts - The feather bed. Got me thinking... as for the other end of that line... thinking of a beach is possible, but what about an artists brush... or calligraphers brush... like in Japanese / Chinese drawn. Got to return to my real identity now... life calls.

Not too much to report... or to read either it seems lately.
I have managed to catch up a few of the ciphers now, got the numbers as stated in my first post... still thinking about them... got the RN from the bottom and decoded it... duh! and I got the purple numbers okay... currently tying up some ends and working on the blue numbers. That is bugging me since it seems to be clear... but I'm a bit sleep deprived and keep falling asleep... busy time for me.. I have had some more ideas on the 'raspberries' RN... and I've tossed a few ideas to susb8383 about things... I've been looking at seriously... matchsticks and other things and how they might work... or what they might represent... viewed on the ground. And the coloured boxes... might relate to something else... Still pondering the lighthouse in the clouds and wiggly thing on post... still like Owl's Head for that, but it's similar to so many from that angle. I think that goldenchild and susb8383 had the same thing in mind re the jem... and GeneticBlend was talking the one I mentioned in the notch... the 'emerald' cut drawing also matches several buildings viewed from above... at least one post office there does... forget where it was... they have a cupola for lighting. Often old offices do that and ventilation.
So as busy as I can be... mostly dealing with snow and other peoples problems... hope some of this will wait... but I can't go look... it's on the other side of the continent from me... No passport doesn't help either... or money. Got to run... life intrudes again... or is that still.

I would love to hear what people, including 7rxc (since 7rxc mentioned it), think what the matchsticks could be. I am at a loss on those! They are a real mystery.

GeneticBlend: Hi there... saw your request... I'm not shy about sharing, but others seem both helpful and a bit tight lipped. so I'm trying to answer you directly... since it isn't a solution... just one of several lines of thought I've formed as I explore the area and get tuned into this hunt. I'm going to try this photo... I know they shrink them down so if they do, click on it... the others enlarged on demand... This should be a shot of the area in Bar Harbour just by the whale watching dock and the Harborside Hotel and near Agramont Park... so says the maps. It's from Google maps and is cropped down... the objects of interest are the floating dock guide posts... these were among the first I found but I suspect that somewhere there may be a long string of them with coloured caps to match the pins... I did find one, but failed to refind it right now... that one had the posts and they were pastel painted tops... I suspect being a boat dock in that case, that they are like parking lot markers... as in, park your boat in Yellow #3... or something... but with a little thought might become a coding... This is somewhere near low tide... and exposed... we would need 26 or so in a row to match the image... but smaller boats and longer docks are possible. And most harbours in this area have fairly large tides... maybe not Bay of Fundy high, but respectable... I'm not sure how that would fit in... BTW... they look more like Map or Sewing pins, maybe even accupuncture needles than matchsticks... to ME. There are also many types of markers for roadsides, fences, railings etc... and all might be coloured or numbered... so like many things I'm looking at it might not be apparent until BOTG time. This is why I don't always bring it right forward... I spend time vetting ideas... I like to think that most do that... I've also been doing the solves, but slowly... I'm both really tired and very rusty at some of this... I'm hoping we don't get more snow.. ha.

Have you had, or anyone for that matter, had any luck with the two six letter words along the middle black line? I have not been able to crack those. I think they need a key. Knowing someone has cracked them will encourage me to keep trying.
