Lol - I remember when I thought that it was in Violet Hot Springs in Yellowstone - violet being below the home of brown, at the center of the color wheel - "try the wheel" - you get my thinking on that). Partly because I found some fallen trees which looked like an X in that area.
My first BOTG. I hiked 24 miles in 2 days (about 6 miles each way) through the Lamar Valley up to violet hot springs and back...twice....
Man was I wrong...but what a fun (and a little scary) adventure...way up in the pines at 8200' with bear scat all over the place. My pics are pretty amazing though.
I won't be doing that again anytime soon, but I was happy that I was even able to make those hikes at my age.

All of this makes me think of an island. Particularly one in the middle of a town square. You know those Round-Abouts you drive around? Isolated and people don't normally go inside the circle, Usually a statue or a fountain or both, Usually encompassed by a chain or some sort of barrier.

When I was much younger, I hitchhiked up the Alaska Highway through the Yukon, Northwest Territory, and around Alaska in the summertime. My “tent” was a large sheet of plastic I carried. When it was time to sleep I would walk several feet into the wilderness and make a comfortable spot. I always felt these spots were “isolated” regardless of what might have been in the area. I think it is quite possible FF could consider a 200 ft trek through the woods with no trail “isolated” even if there was activity in the general area.

Like some people donate their remains to science and lay out in an open field in quiet response decomposing for all to see, well the last clue was the Denver museum of nature and science. Who knows,

ff: Wait a minute. Let me think about that. In an isolated area. (pause) ff: What does isolated mean? cm: Is that your answer? ff: Ok, that’s good.

I was trying to figure out the last part of that exchange. I think he may have snuck something in there. As previously posted, I wouldn’t be surprised if he broke the word isolated up and used the “lated” part to indicate put in a dark place ... i so put that treasure in a dark place. I am almost completely convinced that forest is that sharp and quick witted. (edit, seeing more, reminds me of the catcher book, and even the home of Brown being in an isolated area, so someone was there. he is scary quick)

I mean, who couldn't love that - with Canyon Ferry right there - in the in the middle of the missouri river....I don't think it's there, but loved that potential solution.
