Maybe it would help to have a general discussion about clues versus hints.
After working with the entire book, and the overwhelming amount of information, as a working basis, I am using the “Stack of Clues” as the actual clues, and all else in the book as confirmation and/or hints about how to use the clues.
There is a chapter called “A Stack of Clues” and we are told that Nels paid $5,000 to secure the clues (which we ultimately find were devised by the others in the group).
These are the clues that we are lead to believe Nels used to solve the hunt (and the solution just jumped off the page for him?).
The stack of clues we are given are:
Hodaddy… to general area, most revealing Et4ue … unknown use (Chapter 23 title?) … unknown use Poem version 1 … presumably to use after parking, or version 1 to help to get to parking spot Nada… parking spot Poem version 2 … use after parking ?
Were there other clues from the stack that we are supposed to discover? How are others working with this?

Example of what I see as a red herring, unintended hint, or hint... but not a clue (there are dozens / hundreds / thousands? of these)
Chapter "It Dawned on Me"
ME is an abbreviation for Maine, and the caps backwards give MDI, which is Mount Desert Island in ME, where the spring sunrise is first to be seen (eastmost) from Mt. Cadillac (this is featured in the Fandango hunt).
It Dawned on Mount Desert Island, ME
Also, I had a solve that was explicitly for Sunrise, FL, which this chapter heading seemed to confirm.
I can find no other strong confirmation (except "Made Fresh Each Morning" ... the sunrise), and nothing in the stack per se, so this off the "likely" group.

Hi astree, this is a good thread idea. In addition, I would also like to know how far a person can go with posting possible hints and clues.
Hello hunters. I've been lurking and now I plan on trying to contribute.
I like to look at the wording used within a few sentences after the definite clues.
I don't have my book with me, but after one of the hints I remember words like "revealing", "streaked into my mind", "shower steam." These words almost suggest nudity. If that is true, then that could hint to a statue or painting, etc.

Working from the idea that Nels solved it from the stack of clues we are given, how did he get the pace counts 840 and 190?
There is nothing in the stack that I could find that in any way gives numbers anything like this. How did Nels figure this out?

The discussion of clues and their use is a sensitive topic, but I think the things you mention so far are general enough.
I agree about the words you put in quotes, and their possible connections. I'll add that about that same section of the book, Nels said that t was the Beast shower curtain stuck to his butt, and then he was talking about the "Butt"erscotch Clipper.
This is one reason I posted the "titty dad" acrostic recently, because these types of finds seem to be on the edge, but seem related.
