Are not Mitchell and Timmy characters in the book as the others? Follow who then.... wouldn't that be a hoot LOL
I mean after all, they found Money!!!

That's what I figure. Use the pacing directions to get you to the correct ledge. Then use the compass directions and take a bearing of 210 degrees toward a large rock. Then go 68 feet as the mockingbird flies. Mockingbirds are dive bombers. They have a habit of folding their wings and dropping straight down. Then look behind the rock at the base of it, and dig with your fingers. Seems pretty clear.

I agree that we are to follow Mitchell and Timmy. But I think their part in the book may be for one of the other two hunts, or maybe not, as I have not found a way to differentiate the hunts.

I tried to make parallels between the two groups.
Timmy and Mitchell reach the rock ledge, and are to go 68 feet. Nels and group pace of 840 + 190 + some undisclosed interim paces before reaching the rock ledge, then COULD go the 68 feet down.
From the "before 68 feet" I have found the 210 bearing using other info in the book.
