I would like to know if anyone found Big Bob's. Big John's Bar-b-cue in Ferriday, LA. Read the Google reviews about the bathroom. "The food is actually pretty good, but considering the bathroom never has soap or paper towels, I don't find it tempting to eat here knowing that the cook (nor myself) can't wash his/her hands when using the restroom. Not to mention, every time I walk in, I'm reminded that I have to go get cash out of the atm (off site) because they don't accept credit/debit cards. Are you kidding me? It's 2014...I've seen snowball stands that take debit cards. I'm not eating here again until they become more sanitary, and move into this century with their payment system."

Nah. I don't think that is the one. The building does not fit the description.

That was the best I could do for the barbecue. As far as who found it, I would say the odds favor razorback. He was always the one I was worried about, at least.

It wasn't me and I want to see the solution. I really thought it was in Maine, until the Hot Springs, Hodaddy solution came out. If it was in Hot Springs, I'm going to feel pretty foolish for not following through there. Now, I'm trying to finish MW's Scroll 3 and 4. I really like these hunts because they make sense. I can't go get them because of the distance, but they sure are fun. My hat's off to ever found the flute.

Did anyone find any bicycle rental and park that was the 40 (?) miles north ? Yes. Remember they made arrangements for the bicycles and then moved. If you double back from the Pinnacle State Park entrance and go 9 miles there are parking lots alongside the bike trail. They rode the trail to the State Park and then went 2 miles where they encountered the Butterscotch Clipper. Remember also they had to bear right at one point. This is a perfect fit, plus from here, inside the park, to Hot Springs is 55 miles. This is at Little Rock AR

For all those that wonder why all the Balanced Trail fuss in Hot Springs, AR, well, here it is:

That said, there is absolutely no way a disabled person could get there and the "rock formation clearly in your path" is very debatable. The rest, like steps from the tree to the fork, etc., fits like a perfect glove, though.
It's also part of the Zig-Zag mountains, shaped like a turtle, and Balanced Rock itself sits on a novaculite rock quarry.
Judy Marie, Quarry Girl, Balance Specialist, Zig-Zagging up the river, the girl with the flute w/ a relationship turtle... Definitely many things to like with this spot.

Here is a good look at the trail. Forgive my goofy comments and all, but you will see that the steps work out exactly. The lady with me is my wonderful wife who has shared all of my treasure adventures over the years. Where the movie starts is after the first climb which is a killer for someone 70 years old and out of shape. Might also mention, the boulder eating tree was struck by lightening between my first visit to the area and my second. The tell-tale strip of bark missing from the top of the tree to the bottom is on the left side of the tree as you look at it from the trail. Movie: youtu.be/PlFlJNJUb_kPicture of lightening strike on boulder eating tree:

I'll post my video of doing the exact same thing on Saturday, May 6th with my kids... Crazy how much it works out if it's not the right spot!!!

Another thing I discovered is that the title to Chapter 23 that yielded many possible latitudes in the Hot Springs area. Here is a screenshot showing that one of them passed right through the middle of the Balanced Rock formation. I went to that precise location and searched and then also went 68 feet in a direction of 210 degrees "as the mockingbird flies" which was more like 72 feet on the ground since the slope is pretty steep in this area. There were large rocks in the area but nothing like a large boulder. Since I was down there I moved parallel to the cliff in both directions trying to stay "68 feet" away checking rocks as I went. Of course I found nothing. Here are the other latitudes in the area of my interest that could be created from the Chapter 23 title:
Here is the ridge with the 210 compass direction set off to give me the general line to search 68 feet away. Any rock I came near I checked.

Anyone care to share their solutions for the Hodaddy, Nadatrace, or Et mysteries?
I tried taking the Et line and ran it through cipher solver programs and apps. It did not work with any ciphers like Playfair or any others. The last I was looking, I was trying to determine if it is a shift cipher disk based on the Capital letters occurring every few letters, which can mean a shifting of letters on the disk. Unfortunately, this did not reveal anything either.

The last I was looking, I was trying to determine if it is a shift cipher disk based on the Capital letters occurring every few letters, which can mean a shifting of letters on the disk. Unfortunately, this did not reveal anything either. Troy What cipher programs and apps do you use? The only good site I have found is www.dcode.fr . As far as the clues, here's what I thought for each: 1. Hodaddy = Hot Springs (too perfect not to be right, IMO) 2. Nadatrace = A Cedar Lot (made sense, but wasn't totally sold on it, and still am open to other possibilities) 3. Et = Never was able to figure it out. I thought the two different versions between the book and ebook pointed out that you just needed to use the letters to solve it. I was convinced the spelling of cypher in the book was to point us to it being a British cipher to decypher. Couple that with telling us to "play fair" in the introduction and I thought that was for sure it. Problem was that I could never figure out what keyword to use. I was/am convinced Wine Shop-pe told us to put the p and e together for it and that something to do with either wine or religion was the keyword we were supposed to use. I also remain open to it being a Vigenere cipher with a word about wine or religion being the keyword. In the book, it talked about 'like wine into vinegar, Lane hated talking about church' or something like that. 4. Chapter 23 - %@&$$!*# = Ringgold (too perfect not to be right, IMO) Though it was initially the first clue I was pretty sure I solved within the first week of having the book, we ended up not being able to use it for anything in Hot Springs, Arkansas (or Hot Springs in general). Our group spent A TON of time researching Ringgold, GA for this hunt with BOTG trips along the Ootelwah Ringgold road at both Elsie A Holmes Nature trail in Ringgold, GA and White Oak Mountain Trails in Collegedale, TN. Guessing Chapter 23 was the city name, I put every city in the US into a database, filtered the list down to cities with double letters for the $$ and no other letters matching any other letter. That filtered the list down to 89 cities. Of those 89 cities left, none of them made sense after reading the book except the following (which made complete sense and I will be absolutely blown away if it was just a random coincidence): Ringgold, TX Ringgold, LA Ringgold, GA Ringgold, KY Ringgold, VA New Ringgold, PA Note: The owner of Buffalo Trace is William Goldring, so that might be what the golden ring has to do with somehow. I will be very interested to see how the gold ring aspect of this hunt was to be included correctly into the final solve, as I was never able to make it and Hot Springs work together.
