As someone who spent an enormous amount of time on Fandango, when the hunt ended w/o a solve and the answer was revealed, it was a complete and utter disappointment instead of the ‘aha’ moment or any feeling of ‘wow I was that close!’. I would rather see Cam re-release the book with maybe a slight revision if/where needed to bring it into the current timeline, giving the hunt and author their (long over) due. The 40th Anniversary hunt has sparked a renewed interest in the original, likely attracting a slew of new hunters who would feel like the rug got pulled out from underneath them if it was abandoned in lieu of the 2nd chapter. As they said on the CodeBar podcast (link on The Golden Apple Tale/Update: Active Status Confirmed - Six Q’s) whoever solves this and finds the original Golden Apple is destined for the Armchair Treasure Hunters HOF! That's not a terrible idea. I would like for Cam to consider that. Of course, the only hunters who would have a legitimate gripe to an early end would be the ones who bought the original book.

I wish Cam Kaskgn would retrieve the golden apple from his hunt. Tell us the solution. Donate the golden apple to Martin's hunt.
Don't hate me. But that's what I wish.

Hello, from what I've read, this is pretty common. I don't believe you opened anyone's wallet. To learn more about this, you might check out Professor F's videos on Youtube and read the comments.

Thanks for the pics choice!
I like the theory on paper but I'm not seeing anywhere that I would want to chance a dig.

choice turned me onto the Pittsburgh area and I found Forbe's Field to be interesting. It was a "complex" that fits a lot of the descriptions in the poem. What I really liked about the area was the brick line (line with the clay) where the outfield wall used to be- bricks are primarily clay.
If I lived in the Pittsburgh area I would like to examine the brick line to see if any point of it ends in the grass or if maybe one end points to an interesting spot in the bushes, etc.

"The natives still speak Of him of Hard word in 3 Vols." I've seen some good theories about what a "Hard" word means. I'm going to throw this idea into the mix before I forget what my idea is. Liquor is a hard word. Not hard to say. Not that hard to spell. But, hard as in hard liquor, hard lemonade, etc. It's well-documented that Hudson shared liquor with the natives. From www.ianchadwick.com/hudson/hudson_03.htm "The crew got some natives drunk on wine and Aqua Vitae -"hooch," from the Indian word "hoochenoo" for the hard liquor Hudson and his crew plied them with. One passed out and slept aboard the ship. The natives returned the next day and were relieved to find him unharmed." www.drinkingcup.net/manhattan-island-general-intoxication/I don't know why it was capitalized, though. Feel free to add other theories to this thread.

Sorry but can’t seem to find that word “key”on the gate. Can you post a pic pointing to it. Thanks I work a puzzle as far as I can until some new relevant information surfaces. The Zeeland rest stop is close to 11 miles away ( the way the crow flies), from let’s say the Indian mounds drive area in Grand Rapids. That Fruitport rest stop is about 24 miles away, too far away to fit the storyline. diceycat...look at the center of the gate exactly at the intersection of the crossing boards. Then, to the left is a perfectly drwn arrow pointing to the two w's. vizzini...I haven't got to look at the windsock but sounds interesting.

Good work diceycat.
If you will look at the center of the gate in the first post of this thread you will see the tiny word "key" with an arrow to the left pointing at 2 w's.
Be sure to eat and drink while being sucked into this puzzle.

hahahaha My craziest idea DID involve Battlestar Galactica and was connected to the actress Laurette Spang who played Cassiopeia. She was from Ann Arbor.
Actually, after checking out some papers, I DID NOT have Grand Rapids as one of my spots.

Interesting dig spot diceycat. If you can't check it, maybe you can find someone on here or even contact a local metal-detecting club to check it for you.
