In the very first chapter of OUAW FF tells about singing 'O Sole Mio. And then he finishes with the drawn picture of himself standing on a stool and saying "Thank you! Thank you very much!"
That's an Elvis reference, of course. And Elvis had 'O Sole Mio rewritten for his own song. It was titled.... wait for it.... "It's Now Or Never"

Elvis has left the building. Yeah, he may not be the only one. Lots of us may be beaten to the treasure. C'est la vie.

Don't anyone go getting in trouble. Don't rush into danger, alone or ill prepared. You can't spend it if you're dead. Play it smart.

I kind of stumbled onto it and it took a while for it to sink in because I wasn't expecting anything to be there. But then it dawned on me. I'm a little slow on the take at times, I'm afraid. If you read the lyrics, for a good laugh, think of Forrest as a great big ol' spider sitting in his web and watching you approach. Edit to add the lyrics....It's now or never Come hold me tight Kiss me my darling Be mine tonight Tomorrow will be too late It's now or never My love won't wait When I first saw you With your smile so tender My heart was captured My soul surrendered I'd spend a lifetime Waiting for the right time Now that you're near The time is here at last It's now or never Come hold me tight Kiss me my darling Be mine tonight Tomorrow will be too late It's now or never My love won't wait Just like a willow We would cry an ocean If we lost true love And sweet devotion Your lips excite me Let your arms invite me For who knows when We'll meet again this way It's now or never Come hold me tight Kiss me my darling Be mine tonight Tomorrow will be too late It's now or never My love won't wait

Oh boy, FF as a spider luring us into his inescapable web! I don't think I'll be able to sleep at night after thinking of that!!

Yeah. It's a trap. FF knows he's gonna get caught but at his age WTH. Then he's gonna write a book all about it and make a freakin' fortune! The "winner" gets to be played by Brad Pitt in the upcoming movie.
Did I miss anything? lol

The question is whether Forrest's editor missed it, or Forrest deliberately instructed her to spell O Sole Mio as "Oh Sole Mio" on page 4 to draw a little attention to it. In any case, it's a clear reference to Elvis's version of the song, as Buckeye Bob indicated.

Oh wow, I just got caught being chauvinist. I am sorry to you and to all the ladies out there. But I am, after all, the worst of all mixes of human and man and dawgbreath. So, Angelina? I know they split (unfortunately!) but she's always a good option for a role.
