Wow jonsey1 . That’s pretty convincing. But why sneak a logo from another publisher and paint it yellow. Maybe it’s something to draw our attention for no good reason.

Why are East and West swapped from their normal positions on the Compass Rose at the bottom of this page?

Why are East and West swapped from their normal positions on the Compass Rose at the bottom of this page? This is an important observation, wgardner. These are the positions you would see if you were looking up at a standard compass from below rather than down on it from above as is customary. It is a hint to remind you that as the fox progresses through the story, while it may seem that he is heading "down" into the book, he is actually progressively traveling upward to "the highest point" before his final long fall.

I want to put this out there because I haven't seen anyone mention this on any forums on Fandango I've came across yet. I just wrote up a huge detailed write up on this...and then my computer died and didn't reload the page after restarting so I lost it all. So now you get the cliff notes..sorry. I'm going to assume you already know how to pull the degree minute second long lat coordinates from the nikon page and harley quinns page. Nikon page is marked 44 on the license and 4D, harley's page is marked 68 on the upper limits of the globe degrees scale, red yellow book equaling orange book etc. Those coordinates entered in pinpoint the POI south east of Jordan Lake. Which I believe to be Harley Quinn's...but up for debate. I think more importantly is that POI is there to confirm you pulled coordinates out of the book correctly and used them correctly. A confirmation. But this is what I think everyone has missed. The directions for rearranging the coordinates are right there on the map hidden in the altitudes. Harley's plumb bob's shadow is right on Mt. Sawuer's altitude drawing your attention to the others altitudes also. There are four that are off, Sawuers is off by 1, Penobscot off by 1, and Pemetic by 8. Or 1-1-8..or 1-8-1 more importantly. The other is Sargent Mountain which is way off, or better yet rearranged. Harley's map shows 1273, and the back map shows 1372. Do you see the pattern? keep the first digit and run the rest from back to front. Applying this to the isbn number gives you .18189204 as a new number. Enter this in the same way you did before, leaving the Nikon pages coordinates as is since there is no hint on that page to rearrange them. This gives you a point right off Sargent drive, between the road and Somes sound on a very thin stretch of water front. Right on the flank of Norumbega mountain, which is named after the mythical city of gold. It's odd this point if random fell on such a thin strip of land. Look at it on a map...its literally a strip of rocky shore front between the water and road, but a great place to hide something small. I doubt it gets much foot traffic off of the road. When you google Sargent drive look at the square rocks lining the road. Don't they look just like the ones on the Cadillac Mountain page? If you draw a line thru the POI markings of thunderhole and the un named spot south east of Jordan lake (which was a precursor clue to get to these new coordinates also) it goes smack dab thru this point. If you also marked your map of all other locations of the images you'll see that the old wildwood estate and deer creek bridge spots also line up and intersect this same point. Both lines literally make a big arrow pinpointing the location. Is it a coincidence that the altitude of Sargent mountain on the map was key to rearrange the coordinates that end up giving you a location on Sargent drive also? Another confirmation of the coordinates can be found on the Cadillac Mountain illustration which was a big precursor to finding the orange book and its coordinates. Look at the mileage of the blue signs (which were precursor clues also feeding into the coordinates) The mileage of the three signs are 18 18 and 9. 18189, the first five of 8 rearranged coordinates. Also notice that the Norumbega sign has two signs below it and then two signs flipped around. Kind of isolating those two signs. Otter creek -6, Bass Harbor -18. Added together equals 24....or 20-4. The last three of 8 digits of the rearranged coordinate. There are hints at Norumbega everywhere in the book. pg.4 "myth and history, do you understand. I mean theres more here than the surface" Norumbega is the mythical city of gold in historic maps
pg.11 The Key Page...Both triangles with one red eye and one blue eye both contain a map of norumbega mountain. The blue eye showing just "ega" mountain and the red showing hadlock ponds and norumbega and its altitude to the side of them. Also interesting is Sargent Mt's location at the very top of the Big key collage. Possibly hinting at it's importance as a key later on. I believe this page hints at how to decipher all the riddles and clues in the book. Since Norumbega is shown with both keys, and sargent Mt. at the apex I think that is telling.
pg.19 Nikon Page....This page was half of the coordinates to get to Norumbega mt and Sargent road. The image in the back is of Brown mountain gate house. Brown mountain is the original name of Norumbega mountain. Coincidence its on the page with half the coordinates?
pg.30 Harley Quinn's....Myth and Legends book with POI. Norumbega is a mythical city of gold in legends about this area. It was shown on various old maps. A perfect fit for a myth and legend. Another possible clue to reverse the numbers could be taken from the E and W being reversed on the compass on the table. Norumbega mountain is once again obscured on his map showing only bega. Norumbega only shows unobscured once in the whole book, on the back map. Is there a reason for that? The altitude for Norumbega is correct on his map also when most of the rest were wrong. The triads were accurate also but possibly just so Norumbega wasn't super obvious as being the only correct altitude.
pg.44-45 Cadillac Mountain page...Coordinates on blue signs and two signs below norumbega mtn sign stated above, Norumbega's sign again obscured, Rocks lining road look alot like Sargent Drive's stones.
Pg. 47 Topsy Turvy..... "now that you and I have crossed paths, I'll help you open up your eyes" text from the beginning of the book (pg.4) I think relates to this page. This is the only image of Fandango with his eyes closed. There is also a U and an I on the top and bottom border almost directly across from each other. Draw a line between them and it crosses right thru the mountain to the right of Fandango. Which is of course Norumbega mountain.
Now....all i have to do is crack the damn riddle and hope it backs up this location somehow. I just wanted to throw out this idea of re arranging the coordinates in hopes it might play into someone else's current solves or stimulates some more discoveries.
p.s. If you arrange both coordinates from Nikon and Maps page with the Sargent mountain clue it gives you a point down by seawall campground near Bass harbor. In the vicinity of where the fox is being dropped by the eagle FYI. This led no where for me and the Norumbega location seemed to be hinted at while the seawall area was not. And no other map points line up with this seawall location like the other one.

Great work Goldenchild! Thank you so much for sharing!
I like your logic that the GPS coordinates as written on the Nikon/Harley pages direct you to the POI east of Jordan Pond to instruct you to use GPS coordinates to find the key location. I agree with you! And there are a lot of hints that you need to rearrange things - the masquerade hint and pace forty south misspellings for one.
I also like that your location is certainly off the beaten path, would be difficult for someone in a wheelchair to access, and most importantly, it is on the edge, but not in the park itself.
What has frustrated me (and others I'm sure) is why some things in this book are sometimes hard to discern. I think colors are important, but so many of the colors are not shaded clearly (is that dark green or black, dark blue or purple?). And the "ega" mt. on the map you cite. That "a" certainly looks like an "o" to me. Now there is no mountain on MDI that ends in 'O", but if that is an important clue, at least make the letter unambiguous. Just this past weekend I considered checking the various mountain heights for potential clues but I didn't have a magnifying glass handy so I moved along. Why not paint the numbers more clearly? Even the ISBN number on the book - if that is key, make it easier to read. I actually have it as 014029828, but you have that last 2 as a 1. It won't matter to the GPS coordinates as you solved it, but still, if it is important it should at least be legible.
The other thing I still struggle with is that there are so many red herrings and inconsistencies in this book that it makes it hard to know whether the path you are following is correct. For example, in your GPS coordinates, why does the Nikon page give you 7 numbers (i.e. seconds to 3 decimals) while the Harley page gives you 8 (i.e. seconds to 4 decimals)? Pel could have easily made it consistent if your interpretation is correct. On the Key page the red eye triangle points to ICQU (I seek you) in the letter square (a little hint that the map in that triangle is important perhaps) ... or does it? Is that blue letter an "I" or an "L"? I could go on, but you get the point. Important information like letters/numbers/colors shouldn't be open to interpretation but they sure seem to be.
Lastly, I am convinced, like you, that there are two steps to the solve. First, identify the location using GPS coordinates. Second, solve the master riddle to know what to do to find the key once you arrive at that location. And I, like you, am stuck on part two!
P.S. - It's funny that in your p.s. you mention Seawall Campground. When I first started on this hunt a few months ago, one of the first possible locations I identified was Seawall Campground (for reason I now forget).

For those of us a little thick, could you explain how you got a coordinate from the Harley Quinn page?

For what its worth, since im assuming we are discussing coordinates due to the DMS on the camera page. The question you gotta ask your self is,"Do you undoubtedly feel you've solved the riddle with JUST a set of coordinates?" I don't. In regards to DMS, the author's mothers' name is Deicy. Her nickname is Mumdee. Deicy Mumdee Stockwell, and with a little research, photography seems to be the Stockwell hobby.

I 100% agree with illuminatinps that there is more to Fandango than potential numerical lat/long coordinates.
But also for the record, I could "locate" the unlabeled POI on the map using the following method: 44degN and 68degW from Harley's map (and all of MDI is covered by 44degN and 68degW).
then take 1927614 from the camera lens page and 1429828 from the ISBN# on the orange book on Harley's page, and you can combine them into 44° 19' 27.614" N 68° 14' 29.828" W which is very very close to the unlabeled POI.
Another thing to note while we're here: Norumbega mountain is also at 44° 19' 27.614" N and it also appears virtually dead center in MDI and in the MDI map in Fandango. It could certainly be the center of some "eye" and perhaps used as a point of reference to rotate, reflect, or translate other points around.

Or else I’d be a damn fool for posting them right? The riddle is crucial. I do believe the DMS could have a subtle nod to his mom. But the numbers on that page and the map page, when entered in as degrees minutes seconds just happen to pinpoint the POI on the map. No way is that random. He intentionally put those coordinates there to pull out and use.

thisjustin.....I now think you’re right. That is a 2, not a 1. He only uses straight ones everywhere else in all the images. It makes sense that is a two then and not a one. Which means the “confirmations” of mine to back up the coordinates are just unfortunate coincidences.

I believe finding the key is a two step process. 1) Solve for the correct GPS coordinates to identify a location. 2) Solve the master riddle to identify what to do, or where to look to find the key at the GPS identified location. Goldenchild and I believe we have solved for step 1. What we (and presumably everyone else) are missing is the master riddle.

One that is often overlooked is Fandango's reflected eyes and how connects to other characters with reflected eyes, which ultimately grants you the whole Count to Three mystery. Just look at the tire. take the two things from there and find the other characters with reflected eyes.

Just look at the tire. take the two things from there and find the other characters with reflected eyes. I completely agree with you! There is a lot on this page. Again, the problem with Fandango is that there is a lot on many pages making it hard to distinguish what is important and what is simply fun or interesting. Bisecting the page horizontally through Fandango's eyes and vertically through his nose picks the letters R-O-S-E from the border. Pertinent or just interesting? Fold the page to align the left and right borders to form a yellow/red compass rose in the northwest corner and you can pick out a 2 and 3 from the border pattern. Pertinent or just interesting? Confirmatory ("Count To Three") or just coincidence? I'm not sure I understand the count to three mystery that you alluded to. I only used the eyes to pick "O" and "E" in ROSE. But if you are suggesting you use the arrows on the tire in conjunction with the eyes, I can't seem to follow but am very interested to hear what I am missing! As far as other "reflected" eyes do you mean other red eyes in the book (e.g. the ones on the "all eyes in the fire" page)? I am still relatively new to this hunt. There is a lot I have discovered, but there is certainly a lot I am still missing!

You have uncolored eyes, blue pupils, blue whites, red pupils, red whites. The blue and red eye on the key page definitely suggest there’s something to do with the colored eyes. Like that dang squirrel with blue eyes hitching a ride and pointing at something. And why doesn’t fandangos eyes stay consistent? But then again, Chief Abanaki warns us...”Those inconsistencies of character can lead to trouble”
