Thank you very much, thedawailey. This gives a good orientation when posters are discussing the match up between p. 5 and p. 56 fox shape.

Thank you very much, thedawailey. This gives a good orientation when posters are discussing the match up between p. 5 and p. 56 fox shape. Exactly what i was referring to with dawialeys map. Now couple that with the snake representing Eden and the bear showing up again on the Cadillac page. Look closely at the big rock in the foreground. It is clearly casting a shadow and you can see a top view of the bear on the rock with a black arrow pointing to the shadow. This, IMO, is what the Cast Not a Stone book is referring to. In short, Cadillac mountain is super important. Either A) Its literally where the key is B) The signs (particularly the 40mph "pace forty" are important C) its elevation 1530 is used as a key. Its already proven that the two pages where eyes reflect (Camera and Neptune) because the 1653-1530=123 (count to three). That cannot be a coincidence. Not to mention the 4 symbols on the chest all represent pages that have POIs on them: C(virgo on page 11) X(dames page seconds hand through the X on the clock) +(signposts on Cadillac page) *(compass on Harleys page). What do they all have in common? All of them play a part in revealing Cadillac mountain as a major component.

This is the one I did several years ago. I think the tip of the tail has gone missing!

Nice picture. I tried a number of variations. None fit perfectly, but some were better than others. The reason I put my fox image farther up on the map is because I wanted to match the base of the tail to Schooner Head, but I'm not convinced of that position - I like your fox/ map version too!

I remember, when I first "saw" the connection, it was the ears. Then I noticed how nicely the body curved around Norway Drive and Eagle Lake Road on the left semi-circle, and HWY 102 on the left. He just sort of snuggled in there.

I keep meaning to break out my tracing paper. I'm curious whether any of the curves in the small black and white pictures match any roads on an MDI map.

Three things strike me about the p. 56 map. 1) Some of the illustrations earlier in the book seem to mimic the map. For instance, Chief Abnaki's leg and shoulder on p. 32 look similar to the curve of the road on the left side of the map, with the character's toe and pants cuff (or is that the folded-over top of his moccasin?) matching up with the Bass Harbor / Seawall / Manset area of the map. Maybe the Chief's fire is also part of the match with the map? Since he seems to be holding a map to fan the flames, this could be confirmation that there is a map clue in the Abnaki illustration. 2) The winds in the corners of the map may represent the Wind goddess. Does it matter that each wind has a unique kind of "breath"? Two are squiggle and two are straight; Two have dashes and two do not. 3) The p. 56 map symbols are woefully incomplete. The map shows five anchorages; in reality, there are many harbors and anchorages around the island. As the previous discussion points out, there are also many more points of interest around the island - why limit the map to indicate only those selected few? Some intersections and mountain peaks are also singled out while others are ignored. What is important about those locations - are they important only for purposes of decoding this map (or decoding the book as a whole)? If I were to venture a guess, I might surmise that the Stockwells wanted to narrow down a set of points on this map so we could draw lines connecting points. Whether those lines would mark a linear course traveled by the fox, I don't know. It could be we will identify an "X marks the spot" if we can draw the correct lines through the right landmarks. P.S. "Key- is found on the bottom of the map. The map key tells you what the symbols on the map stand for." I am keeping this in mind as I try to come up with new approaches.
As I mentioned in the brief postscript (above), every map has a key. Given the nature of the treasure, finding a map key might be the strategy for solving this hunt. Or maybe the goal is to figure out the hidden meanings in the POI, anchorage and lighthouse symbols in the key provided.
The red border word on the Harley Quinn page spells out "map." Could the key to the fox-as-map or illustrations-as-map be hidden within the Harley Quinn illustration?
