Is there a summary of how this was solved?

Interesting how that cache had a few markers to the cache.....(blue squares, arrow on tree, mark on rock)....
I think that one did mention clues on site to follow.... I don't think all of them have that... seems the PDF story(and clues within that) leads a searcher to the general location, and it is up to the person to find it from there on most hunts.
But they are all a bit different.... so who knows...

From what I understand, it took the finders ten trips until they finally found it!
I wish there was a clear "solve" posted somewhere. It does seem that there were some kind of marks on trees, as Jenny mentioned. HCB placed turtle marks on trees, but then other people who were hunting the same cache started putting other marks on trees too, to confuse competiting searchers.

I think there is a big difference in Treasureman's hunts vs. what we as armchair treasure hunters are accustomed to doing. He does his hunts for fellow metal detector and treasure hunter enthusiasts and is basically placing his caches in areas of historical interest or a local treasure tale. I don't think we will get solves that lead us to a specific location, say within 10 to 50 feet of where the cache is hidden. It will be a general area that we will have to search thoroughly on our own perception of where it might be located. Some of his books, obviously, point to more specific locations than others. I just hope I get a book that the cache is located in my area (Texas) some day and it will be one of those that points more closely!

Yes, I completely agree with that assessment. Once you are on site, you are meant to search with a metal detector. And for those sites that don't allow metal detecting, I think he either gives a hint to narrow it down that you will recognize once you are at the site, or the search site is smaller than those where you would have to use a metal detector.

As I research more and more, and keep learning about the various Treasure Caches, I agree as well. I'm not thinking any will be an 'easy find', but will take some work once on site.
It is great to know this and what to expect before going.
And Although different than an average armchair treasure hunt, it's still awesome, and wonderful to have treasures out there to find!

Maybe your grandpaw knew where some of the older marks where, the KOGC and J James were whispered to use them to mark spots. Some family’s still guard these locations without knowing why or what they are protecting, just what the family has done from one generation to another, so they say.
