The book is kind of flimsy (or at least mine is). Do you think that this is intentional so that we can use the pages (AKA draw on them), or just the way it is made?
Has anyone taken their book apart so that each page can be marked on or do you copy the pages?
Very interested in this chase, I feel a breakthrough is close!

It would definitely be a first. A book that is "supposed to fall apart". I can guarantee you this: My book will be in a million pieces if it goes unsolved and that end up being part of it. Ive had to keepmyself from tearing it apart quite the many times But in all seriousness, I think this is a homebrew/freshman effort and the binding part of the process didn't go so well. It seems pretty consistent with everyone's book which to me, means only one printing was done, being that the problem wasn't rectified.

I tore mine apart years ago, thinking there may be a map if I put the pages together like a puzzle. Nothing panned out with that idea, but having them all separate is helpful when I want to use two pages. I also have copied the pages so I can fold them, overlap them, scan them into a mirror image....you name it, I've done it LOL!

I have, too. When I first received my book, at the beginning of the hunt, I tore it apart, copied it, scanned each page onto another computer then put each page in a clear plastic cover and put into a 3 ring binder. I am still using the same book today and the pages are as good as new. I use post-it-notes to make notes when needed and stick them to the plastic covers. I also created an envelop for each page in the book and occasionally I go through my book and take the old notes and put them into the envelop it goes into for later reference when needed. My scanned pages can be used for enlargements or mirror images or whatever. Stiparest, I agree that I think a breakthrough must be near.

My book is in pieces too...and I feel it was unintended...just an issue with binding....
Anyone's whose book is not in pieces....you know they didn't look through it much...probably not even once....lol....

I hadn't thought of post-it notes. That's a good idea. I have paper with lots of crazy scribbles on it.
I also scanned my pages and then I turned the text into searchable text. There's a website that lets you upload an image and they turn it into text for you for free. I had to clean it up a little (it thought the smudge on my scanner was a litter) but much easier than retyping (which I think I saw a post that someone actually did).

I'm afraid my book is beyond repair, has been written in and had coffee spilled on it - although I did buy a 2nd one a few years ago that I rarely open, so maybe I'll do that with the new one :-)

It really makes it handy to work on. I'll pull just a couple of pages out of the three-ring if I have to pick up kids and wait in line, or if I'm not sleepy at night and take to bed to fall asleep with, or to a doctor's appointment.....anywhere I have to wait. It really makes that waiting time pass faster and I only have a little bit to concentrate on. I could probably publish a book itself with just the notes I have made over the years. Also, when I get really stuck, I can open an envelop and read a note I wrote years ago and see it totally different now. I just can't believe this puzzle has not been solved!

susb8383, would you mind sharing the website that changes the text into searchable text?

I just tried this site again. Now it redirects to something they want you to buy. It used to just show the converted text on the screen.

Thank you! My husband had a program that did it for me quite a while ago. I definitely will try this one also and see how it works. I couldn't get the first one to work either.
