For me, the word ‘tarmac’ caught my attention foremost. I could be wrong, but I believe this word only applies to airport runways. Denver’s old airport was called ‘Stapleton’, and the airport itself was demolished. However, the air traffic control tower still stands.
In this same poem is the line: “Between death and Denver this monument stands...”. Does this phrase refer to geography? Or, Does it refer to some word beginning with: deb, dec, ded, dee, def, etc etc?
