Hey All, Here's my final, but incomplete Fandango solve. Please feel free to use what I believe I've figured out and hopefully this will get you over the finish line before it ends! Best of luck! MM's Final Fandango Solve - Lighthouse Harbormm (Justin)

Thanks Justin/mm
Like what ralph is sharing...... lots to consider...... it will be wonderful if the missing pieces for a final solution can be found.... before 2020! The i's seem to hint to something vital...

The PDF is helpful, with its use of images and charts. The proposed method of drawing lines seems to be consistent, and seems to yield the start of a message. The author says they could only get a solution from some of the paintings, so the solution is incomplete.
It doesn't address much of the other data that people have found, such as numbers and colors and letters (oh my!), which leaves this feeling like a dead end for now.

Great job Justin, a lot of great work. Unfortunately, I have scoured the lighthouse grounds and there is absolutely nothing there. With that being said, I do believe the lighthouse plays a role but only as a point of interest. Keep up the great work, you put a lot of time and effort into your solve. I live in Maine and have been working on this hunt for a month and a half. I can't believe how much I have learned about MDI. I actually worked at MDI hospital for a short spell. Anyhow, if you have any other ideas or thoughts let me know. I have many, but much simpler and straight forward.

In my illustration below, I incorrectly said Bar Harbor, but meant Bass Harbor. bmw x1 0 60

Hi All.
Excellent observations in this solution. I wanted to make a few additional observations:
1) “open eyes end rhyme” if this anagram is correct then I see a logical (possible) connection to the clue: “ moon, smile, follows, across, a, point, upside, down, at, treasure” (found by following Fandango’s eye to the words in the border)
I wouldn’t discount the two lower case ‘i’s’ in SAiliNG. That may be a huge clue that may need more exploration.. Also don’t forget the schematic eye depicted in the collage. I really the like the idea of the text being part of the solution. Nice work!

Problem is, didn't he say the key isn't buried?

Problem is, didn't he say the key isn't buried? Yes, Pel did say it is not buried, but it could be tucked in a rock crevice or cave along the coast.
I'm impressed with all the work everyone has done and the solves each person has put forward. So many good ideas and methods. I'm not sure about this site though, because up until recently it was Coast Guard property with warning signs all over the place. Sometime in 2018 (I think), the land was deeded to Acadia National Park, so even though the lighthouse is still operating as a functional lighthouse it is now under the umbrella of the National Park Service. Still, a lot of good ideas here!

you say the key was lost in Bar Harbor but that light house is not even close to bar harbor.

you say the key was lost in Bar Harbor but that light house is not even close to bar harbor. The back of the book says, "Somewhere on Mount Desert Island, Fandango lost Neptune's gift to the Wind..." so not necessarily in Bar Harbor, but it could be anywhere on Mount Desert Island.
In minotaurmoreno's post he mistakenly labeled the Bass Harbor chapter (Lobsterman illustration) as Bar Harbor, but he corrected himself.

So who lives on MDI and can check that exact spot?

I do and I did. From what I can see, the spot Minotaur Moreno is referring to is on the inside of multiple strands of barbed wire enclosing the Lighthouse. Forty paces south is directly off the cliff into the Atlantic and forty paces north is into the woods along the barbed wire. I scoured the cliff, fencepost, wire, various holes in the rock, and tree roots. Nothing. I "obeyed all laws" and did not go through the barbed wire, but perhaps another time... However, there are several "points of interest" at the Lighthouse: a gravestone/cenotaph with a cross on it of a man who was born on the 4th of July; a flag pole with the same configuration as the Fop's; and two large bells, one with a similar frame as the one on the fire page. I will go again at a lower tide and explore the cliff face a bit more. We are legally allowed to be inside the tidal zone between high and low tide. There are several cliff face references in the book. I like this solve and acknowledge it is not mine. I will be your legs, Minotaur. Thanks for checking, eos ! If that’s not correct, I still think there is something to all the i’s and all the chapter titles starting with “I”. I’ll keep thinking about it and post anything I feel might be useful. I would love someone to find it before the deadline.

MM's Final Fandango Solve - Lighthouse Harbormm (Justin) The list of chapter titles in your link got me thinking about them as possible clues. I can never think of a fresh approach so I often fall back on anagrams. This is what I wrote to a friend a couple of months ago:
I have been playing around with the titles from Fandango a bit. That list in the MinotaurMoreno solution got me motivated again. What if the titles are all anagrams telling where to look in the book for the next clue? This approach is fraught with peril, of course. I have tried things like this before and found that it often leads to more clues but never a solution.
One anagram that got me started again was "I don't quite escape = pie quote distance." The only possible "pie quote" I could think of was "a feast of words and pie." But there is guesswork involved - why use just two border phrases instead of all four? So I'm still at the experimentation stage. No promising results yet.

The shadow area is confirmed to be inside the barbed wire fence. Poe67
