the prize is finding it at this point.. so no matter what, the park would keep the casque, give me the key, all i really want is to be a part of the SS Club, thats one cool pin.

Maybe they can display it at the Maritime Museum with one of those press the button for video of unearthing. That would be cool.

At this stage the cask and the plexi box may be too brittle and fragile that your probe may go right through it. Light touch is required. Unless you want fragments like Boston. I've seen videos including the Whites that put the weight of their whole body and ram it into the ground. Lets say the tip of the probe is very dull and its 1/4" square. And lets say you're a very slim person and can only put 125 lbs of pressure on that tip including your body weight. That's equivalent of 1 ton per square inch of pressure on that old box (16 X 125).

hmmmm. plexiglass is made from natural gas and really does not break down from the elements. even UVs only discolor. but sure light touch required, not an excavator in Boston and whatever they used on the planter in Cleveland to break it. i bought it for the length, less bending over and the diameter for my snake cam. actually works very well and allows a light touch because it does so much of the work. eliminate strain, maximize control. the adhesive used could certainly breakdown and compromise the contents of the box.
should know soon!
which city is next?
