Hi Heidini: you certainly aren't alone in believing that BOTG are required to find the blaze. My biggest hurdle in accepting that is the Lackman interview exchange:
Jon: "How much progress can be made by someone just thinking and searching the Internet from home? (Another way of saying this: How many clues can only be decoded in situ?)"
FF: "All of them, in theory, but not likely in practice. A searcher must go to the site to find the treasure."
If BOTG are *required* to find the blaze, then how could *all* of the clues be solved from home -- even if only in theory? Seems theoretically impossible if a physical presence is required to see the blaze.

Notice how he always states something along the lines of "to find the treasure" or "to retrieve the treasure" etc. with questions like these. Of course a person has to be there in person to actually see and pick up the chest. I believe he adds that bit on so he can make the answer to the question sound like you can't come up with a full solve via armchair research (although maybe not a correct one, you won't know for sure until you actually see the chest)

Think how differently folks would have reacted if the totality of his answer was "All of them, in theory." Yet nothing that he wrote after those first 5 words negates their meaning.

Was Indulgence bold when Forrest went in there? Just a thought.

"...and with my treasures bold..." I take to mean "without caution" Like in Star Trek "To boldly go where no one has gone before" He was able to take the chest and the treasure to the hidey-spot without worrying if anyone would see him.
