Hi all. Just started getting into this last night. It's addicting. I'm playing with Key#2. I'm with the thought that "needing help from a man" possibly references Matthew 13:44 in the bible and that we need to use that info on the periodic table of elements. "Traveling through black flame" may eludes to carbon to me. Maybe passing through carbon to elements 13 and 44? Hello trobson and thanx for joining in. It's kind of hidden for new people, but Lukas has given us a KEY-TESTING place to test our KEY solutions because, as of yet, we haven't found the location of the real treasure chest. Go check out the link in thread "Test Your Key Answers" to test your responses to the hints for each key.

"I will also say that I'm an ex crypto guy for the military and I'm loving this. My wife thinks I'm nuts but there are a handful of you out there that are seriously putting in the time. I hope one of you gets it and I will be here cheering you on."
I'm not trying to hassle you, trobson, but I would sure like to encourage you to join in!
Most have us been camping on KEY 1. You are excited about KEY 2 and it would be great to see somebody solve it.
KEY 2 could just be a one-part answer (Stanza 6) unless Stanza 7 is connected. If that is true, then it does get more complicated as far as testing correctness goes. The way this hunt is set up, we don't (as of yet anyway) get to test our accuracy for each part; we have to be correct for the entire part of KEY 1 or KEY 2 before we will get any positive feedback.
I can't speak for everybody, but I was pretty sure that Stanza 6 was AliBaba's "Open Sesame." I, and others, spent a lot of time trying to make that work as a solve. No success. I then tried to connect Stanza 6 and Stanza 7 together as a 2-part solution. Based on Lukas' key-tester, none of us have come up with anything positive yet for either of the 2 keys needed for this hunt. We don't even know where the real chest is that was where we were originally supposed be able to apply our keys (Lukas had to give us the key-tester link).
This hunt is wide open, trobson. It's been six months and nobody has knowingly solved anything yet. No pressure, but your participation, as well as everybody on the fringes of these message boards, is very much welcomed.
If you do choose to participate, please don't take silence to one of your posts as being negative or ignored. This is a small board and silence just means were processing something that was said and working on more solves. I, for one, just don't have the time to post all of the time anyway. I do like to quickly check in just to see what somebody's newest thought is without necessarily saying anything.
One more thing: If you don't know this, Lukas has 5 or 6 videos about this hunt posted on his key-tester page:
Have Fun!!!

To me, the only problem with Matt 13:44 is that it doesn't say the man was clearing trees. It just says he found a treasure. He could have been walking in the field and stumbled upon it (literally).

Thank you for saying this, treasurer! I've been so disappointed by some of the response to new ideas on this forum, so it's nice to see someone so actively encouraging a new poster! I'm seconding the celebration of Trobson's work on key #2!

I wonder if this is another Google Maps place hunt, similar to stanza 4. If so, then Paris might be a starting point?

Along the same lines as my post in stanza 6 might Hogwarts at universal studios be relevant. I know they have a couple cool things like magic books you can interact with in shop windows?.

I think I just found the place where alchemy’s best is found. Now if I could just figure out exactly the right key 2... so what you’re saying is that you didn’t need to know where alchemy’s best was found to find the chest? I always assumed the assistance from a man was to find the 2nd key and then the black flame etc would Lead us to the chest. But since you found the chest, without knowing alchemy’s best...maybe you got lucky? Or the clues aren’t in consecutive order?

I feel the same way... like I have the info for Stanzas 6 and 7, but I'm not using it right, yet. ...of course, I could have them wrong, too.

Hey everyone! The forums have been somewhat quiet lately, so I thought I'd share some thoughts. As far as this stanza, I am still convinced there is some relation to Harry Potter. Some of this has been mentioned before, but to summarize: Lukas has mentioned he's a huge Harry Potter fan. The Harry Potter books can also be seen in the background of the original DBT riddle video. In addition, during the first Harry Potter book, when the trio of protagonists are making their way through the chamber to find the Philosopher's Stone (alchemy's best?), there is a room they come upon where they must solve a riddle to progress. After entering the room, purple flames shoot up behind them, blocking the way they came in. In addition, black flames shoot up in front of them, blocking the way forward. They must solve a riddle and figure out what potion to drink that allows one of them to move forward, through the black flames.
A probably wrong theory: Early in the hunt, I was considering the above info and doing some more research. In the book (Harry Potter 1), the actual "place where alchemy's best is found", or how Harry retrieves the Philosopher's Stone, is through the Mirror of Erised. Basically (for those who haven't read the book), the mirror is designed to show any one who looks into it, their heart's desire. Harry finds the mirror after getting through all the obstacles in the chamber, looks into it, and sees himself putting the stone into his pocket. Then, the stone magically appears there. As an important note, the Mirror of Erised makes many references to text being backwards, or a mirror image. For example, the name Erised is desire spelled backwards, and there is also an inscription on the mirror that can be read backwards. Okay, stay with me here. After doing some research on "travel through black flame", I came across a comic book collection titled "B.P.R.D.: The Black Flame." So, putting together all of the above information, I thought, what if I apply the mirror clue to "B.P.R.D" to flip it backwards to read "D.R.P.B."? DRPB. Doesn't really mean anything, but after putting it into google, the very first result is Dropbox. Which could be abbreviated to DRPB.
So for a while, I was stoked on this theory. Early in the hunt, I was convinced that Dropbox was the location of the chest, and the two keys were a username and password required to log into a Dropbox account, where we would then find instructions to claim the prize. However, I've ran into a problem with this theory. To sign into a Dropbox account, the username must be an email address. Now that we know that key 1 is a string of ten numbers, it's unlikely this could be used to sign into Dropbox. I suppose it's possible to add a domain onto the numbers to make it an email address (xxxxxxxxxx@gmail.com), but I don't think it would be very likely, as that would mean that technically, the answer for key 1 wasn't complete.
With all of the above, since the theory probably isn't correct, I'm hoping I can somehow still apply the Harry Potter information to further progress. The hardest part I'm struggling with now is figuring out which stanzas apply to key 2 and which apply to the location of the chest. Perhaps that could be a useful clue question to propose in the future?

Good points. I also don't think the dropbox theory is correct. My reasoning is from another angle though: I highly doubt that Lukas intended us to try and log into some random dropbox (or other similar service) account. However, what I do think is that Lukas has set up a page that is his own that has a "log-in" feature on it similar to the key-testers. That is VERY likely.

Could be. But...I'm trying to reverse engineer what we know and how it relates to the poem.
The stanzas through 5 relate to Key 1 which we pretty much all know. (Anyone new to this forum, just read the posts and you can figure out key 1).
Then we've got Stanza 6:
To find the second key You need assistance from a man Whose fortune came as a surprise While clearing wood upon the land
This had us all stumped until Lukas' hint in conjunction with mini hunt #2 of "Go north 11 miles. There you will find the man who will help you."
The answer is James W. Marshall. Texttext was the first one to post this, but others also figured this out, and it's not too hard to eventually get there with the hint. Approx 11 miles north of the answer to mini hunt #2 is a status of Marshall, the only 'man' you can find in that general area. And then if you google who he is, it's a dead-on match.
So what is the assistance we need from him?
Lukas also gave us a hint that we need a book to get Key 2 (also mentioned on this forum).
Just days after the 11 mile hint, people started finding a webpage that contains cipher text. Findingthetruth mentioned it has numbers, commas, and hyphens which sounds like a book cipher to me. Probably where 'the book' comes in.
So how did they get to the ciphertext page?
We were all stuck until James W. Marshall.
The next stanza is 7, the one for this thread:
Then with your newfound knowledge You must travel through black flame The place where alchemy’s best is found Will help you win this game
It must have something to do with Marshall since that was the catalyst that got at least 4 people I know of to a ciphertext page.
So my thinking is either: A. You're right about Harry Potter and the meaning being that we have to enter something in backwards. Which would mean that something related to Marshall needs to be entered backwards. But...if that's the case, why wouldn't people think key 2 is this 'something?' What would make people go looking on the website for a page?
B. 'The place where alchemy's best is found' is his website and is an indication that we need to find a page. For example, in mini hunt #2 Lukas' "the gem that's hidden" was just a creative way of referring to the prize money. So the place where gold is found might just be a way of saying that digitalburiedtreasure.com is needed.
This begs the question, what is "your newfound knowledge?" Is it the name of James W. Marshall? If so, traveling through black flame might related to him. I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the black smith shop that is part of the same park.
Or is it the book that we need? Is it related to Marshall? to Black Flame? To Harry Potter? And how would we know that we need a book without his hint? I guess just from the format of the ciphertext.
Anyway, Marshall is the key because once people figured him out, they started stumbling on the ciphertext. So I think that's the place to work out from.
