I think it was Jeff who wrote a really good post here about this being financial - as it related to the opening line ("..my cost could also show a profit"). It started in the red (loss), then in the black (break-even), and ended in the green (profit).
I like the idea that the tea is warm water. It still seems to me that wwwh is pretty closely tied to dying - but who's death and where - and is he just trying to teach us the value of being kind to and helping others - that you can win by giving?

A match or fire goes from red to black ash. I am imagining a forest fire and the green would be the regrowth afterwards. Remember Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl? "Help Woodsy spread the word". He had a message (hear me all and listen good). He was wise, lived in the wood and had a big W on his belt buckle.

Interesting observation, I almost forgot about those guys. They were forest service spokespeople too as well.

the Nitsitapii (Blackfoot) color system is as follows: *Color* *Direction* Red East Black West White North Green South * Reeves, Brian O. K., Leslie B. Davis, and Claire Bourges. 2003. Mistakis: the archeology of Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, page 370
The four colors were not arbitrarily placed in this story. They correspond to the directions within the developing plot. Forrest purposefully juxtaposed Olga (from back East) next to Red Tea. He then placed Oreos (a Western staple) beside Black Tea. Then snow and "white bone fragments" as he heads North. And finally Green Tea is mentioned as he flys South for home. The NEWS is contained in TWO.

In the Chapter 'Tea with Olga', Forrest mentioned different colors of tea: They are: "So we laughed and drank RED tea." "....so we sipped BLACK tea and nibbled on Oreos." "Olga was at peace at last and I suspected she may be having GREEN tea with her father." Are these colors some of the Subtle Clues Forrest says are in The Thrill of the Chase? I’m gonna go with my theme that this represents the Triple Tau (Three T’s)

I had several thoughts about tea over the years. Here is a random one. Boston Harbour is where Captain Kidd was taken and held prisoner. That is the location of the Boston Tea party.

It was an area that was hit by a huge forest fire. It was green, then red, then black. The trees were chopped down to prevent the spread.

In my opinion, Tea With Olga was a confirmation of what to do after having 8 clues solved, and needing to solve the 9th. Let's assume the first 8 form the letter J on a map. The line "The answer I already know" was a hint for "awk" from "auk" from "anser", to flip the J backwards, or a Komi Tje symbol, Ԏ, a letter T in the Molodtsov alphabet. The reason this is important is because the line "I've done it tired and now I'm weak", where "weak" in Russian is "slabyy". The benchmark named "SLAB" is the 9th clue in my solution. As for the colors of red, black, and green, these could represent the colors of peppercorns. Piper comes from the word pepper. Hence his reference to his granddaughter, Dr. Pepper, as well as his Piper Malibu that he mentioned at a book signing, flying to Lander. Pipe (or the pipe character |) is the substitution for the word "I", as in "As I have gone alone in there". One is to align the azimuth with the pipeline road where the benchmark named "SLAB" is found, count the half gons when aligning to the SOLON benchmark (why did it take me "so long"), etc., etc. A full solution using benchmarks (Father on the Banco) can be found here: www.hintofriches.com/forum/the-hint-of-riches/160547-post-your-solves-and-theories-here-post-find?p=160617#post160617

The trees were chopped down to prevent the spread. lbkgoat: I love your tie-in between the tea colors and the progression of a forest fire. But I think I can improve it a little bit by ending on a hopeful note, and also more directly following the time progression in "Tea With Olga".
1. "So we laughed and drank red tea." Forest fire! 2. "The deal was soon struck, so we sipped black tea and nibbled on Oreos." Blackened trees and ash 3. "Olga was at peace at last and I suspected she may be having green tea with her father." From the rich ashes, new life emerges to start the cycle again
This is really the life-cycle of the forest, and indeed some species of conifers require fire to open those cones of the next generation.
Forrest's early blog-posting name would seem to support this idea.
