Breaking down Werner Von Brownie's latin name you have Incendere - which means set on fire and defugere - which means to flee or escape
St. Augustine Florida is named after St. Augustine of Hippo who quoted: “You never go away from us, yet we have difficulty in returning to You. Come, Lord, stir us up and call us back. Kindle and seize us. Be our fire and our sweetness. Let us love. Let us run.”
Another tie-in could be the 1914 fire in St. Augustine...could be pareidolia, but believe I can see 1914 in the grass patch on left side of the image, about halfway down on page 175. The "19" is more faint, the "14" is a little darker.

Conch Island, Bird Island
Superimpose the banner held by the conquistador over the fort represented by the original painting on a map and see which park it puts you in at the end of the banner. Diego is the Spanish name for James.
