Could be. Although I just realized that either that one or Pillsbury breaks the pattern of no duplicate states per stanza, assuming "a falling mine" means Mine Falls.

For ‘rock-hard cake’, I was thinking that Madison Boulder Natural Area, New Hampshire, might be a pretty good fit. my guess is marble cake -- tasty, when not stale, and a good play on words -- but I haven't looked for a Marble park.

Did anyone find Morse code in this clue? She mentions Morse code a lot in the book. It looked to me like that shells and stones around the border should spell something out, but I wasn't able to find anything.
