Cool. That circle on the robe has an opening similar to the lighthouse base. Keyhole looking. Yeah, it might even be a better match than the West Speaker Tower in that respect. Either way the circle on the robe doesn't appear to be fully closed.
Another thing that would go with the lighthouse is "the casque is kept". The person who mans a lighthouse is known as a "keeper". Another rabbit hole or a clue?
I don't believe the Marina District Lighthouse was ever manned...although there are pictures out there of what appear to be a small quarters similar in nature to a prison cell in the lighthouse. Interesting...

Anyone knows when the door was bricked up? Maybe it had an iron gate once?! Hopefully there are historical images.

one more thought on the symbol at the center bottom of the cloak and the split rock term. Perhaps it represents two half-circle shaped stones with a mortar joint between them. in the door to go in or the threshold to go down.
ya know, i would not have been interested in a boston solution that required digging up a home plate, which is technically destruction of public property. i thought about that a lot.
onward guys. this is a lot of fun.

sf weekly article with quick google search,
to build the lighthouse from cobblestones salvaged from the city streets, with the creator sketching a plan after looking at photographs of other towers, Keefe says. A Rec and Park Commission spokeswoman says the cobblestones served as the seawall and paving around the structure, but the ornamental stones for the lighthouse walls came from the George A. Pope residence that once stood in Pacific Heights. What everyone agrees on is that there once was a beautiful teak door fashioned from a ladder from the USS Matsonia — and now that door is cemented shut, as are the windows. But before that happened, Keefe saw inside the small tower. There are stairs, but no grand spiral staircase that is the signature of most lighthouses. There is barely room for one person to squeeze up to the top toward the lantern, he says, although there used to be occasional tours.

On the Chimera page, the sub-title is "Bella Donna". Bella Donna means beautiful lady, associated to chaste Mary or Madonna, my lady. Between the location of Wave Organ and the cove is Fort Mason. I think it was decommissioned in the 80's and open to public. Statue of Madonna used to sit by the parking lot. Here're images bbi posted recently. B/W image is from 1982. Remember "How do I look from the back?" Image 1 next to her hair to the right looks like the image of the statue from behind. Interestingly the main statues at Maritime Park, namely "Animal", "Frog" and "Seal" were created by Benny Bufano, the artist of "Madonna".
I do like the Madonna idea as the Litany of the Jewels describes the pearl as chaste. There is a possibility that Image 1 is the Virgin Mary...hey it's plausible after the "witch in Boston".
As for a Chinese tie-in, Bufano was Italian-American, but he did create a statue of Sun Yat-sen in Saint Mary's Square. So there you have a Mary tie-in with a Chinese tie-in....interesting

Mary being a middle-eastern most likely had black or brown eyes. Does the small character below Mary have blue eyes?

I think that stone dragon represents Lombard St. The two half circles could be the 'Do not enter' sign at the bottom of the hill.

Others have said it's a Russian woman to represent the Russian Hill neighbourhood. Thoughts?
Since Boston she could be anybody....certainly wouldn't have guessed witch I'll tell you that!

That turntable was in a different place in early 80's. I don't even know how the car could make that sharp turn to the old turn table!

i boarded there many times in that time frame. they would stop the cable car in the middle of the car intersection then "walk" it in and back out. memories!
