I guess it's been long enough for any of you who wished to locate the casque in Pulitzer Fountain Square. I'm going to give you the location where I think the caque is located because This one needs to be dug up as soon as possible. They removed the tree a while back that it was under because the roots were buckling the sidewalk. I don't know that they have repaired the sidewalk at this time but once they do the casque will likely be lost forever. Under that which may be last touched or first seen standing. I believe that it is this tree because when you approached the location, the tree is far out by the road and would have been visible from a block or two away."last touched" I think just means it's where the casque is located and is the last thing you could touch there. Look north at the Wing, And dig. The angel on the Sherman statue and her wings are due north of the tree. What he is telling you is that the casque is on the north side of the tree. To achieve, By dauntless and inconquerable, Determination, Your goal. I think Priess is telling us that this was a tough one, if indeed we have found it. Maybe someone could pitch a tent overnight, pretend to be homeless and have it dug up by morning. Just an idea.

Just another small detail. The silver spoon in the image most likely represents Tiffany & Company. They have made a lot of silver spoons even some for the New York Worlds Fair. The location of the spoon in Image 3 in relation to the window, and Tiffany & Company just off fifth avenue in relation to Grand Army Plaza in the real world, are a near perfect match location-wise.

The other items associated with the silver spoon are probably a pearl because Tiffany & Company has a long and rich history in the pearl industry, and one of the company's jewel pouches. I think I can make out the pouches draw strings at the end of the spoon's handle.

I think it is widely accepted that Batman's fabled Gotham City represents New York City. That's why I believe that strange shape in Image 3 represents The Bat Signal. I beieve Preiss knew that the connection could and would be made.

Another detail in this image also looks a lot like the top of an Apple, A Big Apple to be exact.

Judging from the thickness of the stem it might be a tiny apple. Maybe it's Minneapolis!

It has been pointed out a few times that Preiss sometimes gives 2 numbers for either latitude or longitude, with the exact number falling somewhere between the two numbers. With that in mind I searched Image 3 for just such a number. We already had 43 as our latitude so we needed a 41 so that the average could be 42 and fall in the area or New York City. Well, lo and behold,I think we now have an actual slam dunk.

Flight 41 by Orville Wright was documented with photos and flew 12 miles, another good clue....thanks for pointing out that “41”! The number 98 is just to the left when looking at the image, 98 pounds was the weight of the glider.
