Okay, I'm going to post a find I have for the sake of moving this forward. Let me know if it was already discovered, but a cursory glance in here did not yield anything. www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100035254278385Look at the date of the only image... For those that got the clue to Key 1, I know this could be argued as in conflict, but a find I made regarding stanza7 still fits with the clue and is too perfect to be coincidental. I'm hoping by sharing we could confirm or eliminate this cypher option I'm now hearing about. I personally don't buy it, but I would love to have a go/no go to be able to move on. Subie, it was recommended to me to confirm if I found the chest with you. If you don't mind a pm, i can dance around the topic a bit to see if we both may have found the same thing. I found that a week or two ago, but dismissed it. If stegnography had been used to hide an image, its usually in a .PNG file for simple stegnography. If it is a .JPG file it usually means having to use the same tool to decrypt as encrypt in order for a message to be revealed. There are simply thousands of these tools out there so it would be totally random chance that you find the right one. Some tools only work on 24 bit .jpg's other tools demand different types of JPG encryption. THats not to say thats this image might not be a clue, but if you cant find the right tool what good is the clue in the first place. Unless there is something in the verses to indicate which tool to use Also many steg images can only be decrypted with a password. Again if you have no idea of which password to use you are screwed. It tried lots and could not get a result. so based on those variables (which program, which password) and the litterally hundred of possibly combinations even if you have have the right tool OR have the right password, I thought it highly unlikely to be a clue that Lukas would use However I might not have seen a clue to point to the right tool or use the right password, so dont assume I have tried every possibility, just be prepared to spend an awful lot of time playing with this. Maybe someone who uses and understands stegnography a lot will have better luck. I was kind of hoping it would some thing as simple as information hidden in the metadata but I had no luck with data either. Like I said, give it a whirl if you have nothing else to go on, there might be something there, but afters days of playing with that image I could not get a result or any sort of text message out of that image.

Today in "Strange coincidences that seem like they should definitely relate to the hunt, but actually mean nothing": There is a Facebook page titled "The Adventures of Lukas Stanley" in which a paper doll takes a trip to Coloma/Sutter's Mill and looks for gold... seriously?? How is it I can manage to find that random page, but I can't figure out which direction to go in the hunt for key 2? Alas, back to searching..... www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2012371719036596&id=2005493879724380

From the place he lives and works, this may be a legitimate gold miner. On the other hand, the timing of the account creation is suspicious. I don't find anything hidden in the image even with Notepad. For your perusal is www.jamesmarshall.com It's a private site & I can't get in. Maybe you can do better.

Is Lukas peppering the interwebs with false leads and dead ends? I hope not, but at least he has a sense of humour if he has.

I doubt it's related to the hunt because the date on the images is March 2018. If you read back to the beginning of the posts, it's technically Lukas' Stanley. There's a book called Flat Stanley in which a paper man goes to different places. So as a project, school kids often make a paper man and mail him to relatives to take pictures of him in different settings. A friend of mine took a Flat Stanley on a ski trip a few years back. This was the poster's relative named Lukas asking her to take pictures of his Flat Stanley. It seems like it's total coincidence that they went to Coloma. Wow, how funny!!!

So how many people have found this cipher we keep hearing about? No one who's fessing up, I guess.

More ideas on the US road numbers: In general odd numbers go north and south, even numbers go east and west. Each state can and does number its own roads. A four-digit number is likely to be a county road. The bigger a road is, the more likely it is to be numbered within the conventions. For named roads, all bets are off. Thanks for that, that is really useful for those of us that have never visited the USA. Additional interstate numbering info: the wikipedia article is actually really good here. It explains standards for offshoot highways, where the numbering begins, and some other things about interstates specifically.
