If anyone figures out Key 2 before I do but doesn't know the chest location, I'd be willing to go in halves with you and we'll consider it a co-solve.
Just message me.

Could you post a screenshot of the chest to see that you have found it?

Hi All,
So...I've gotten multiple messages of offers to trade a hint for a hint; a nudge towards the location of the chest in exchange for a hint about key 2, where to find the cipher text, who the man is, etc.
All very tempting...but I'm going to decline.
For one thing, I've already decided that I'm probably not going to be the one to win this thing. If I give a hint about the chest to someone who has already found the ciphertext, I'm probably not going to beat anyone to the final goal anyway.
For another, the only reason we've all gotten as far as we have is because of people sharing freely on this forum.
squirejames88 was the first person to come up with Dearborn, MI. Elysethecat figured out stanza 5 including C6 for "no sea legs here." jewelie is the one who posted the correct interpretation of "play it carefully" after we all got nowhere for about 5 months. thecoywonder posted the correct starting number for piece 3. chipveres gave the biggest help of all IMO by sharing the "11 miles north" link and hint. I know that nobody would have found any ciphertext without this since we've been puzzling over "the man" since the beginning of the hunt.
All of these people could have kept their theories and what they found to themselves to put themselves ahead. But they chose to share publicly.
You're probably asking, "Then why don't you share the chest location on the forum?" Sorry, but that's just too big a piece to publish. I've been a regular contributor with theories that I thought were correct at the time, so I don't feel like I've been a lurker.
I know there can only be one winner. And I'll admit that if I know both keys, I'm not going to share the answers; I'll just go and get the loot.
But...I'm also not going to do the whole private hint thing.
With that said, my offer still stands that if someone has key 2, verified by the key tester, I'm willing to have both of us win and split the money. But that's my only offer.
Good luck!

I don't think there is any need to share the exact chest location on the forum, most of the fun comes from the hunt, but a clue would be helpful. Even something small like, "I found it with google maps" or "A book title lead me in the right direction."
And you really haven't given any substantial evidence that you found it. Even Lukas can't confirm it. Maybe you are just trying to secure a small sum if the second key is found...

I don't think susb is lying about finding the chest. That wouldn't make sense to pretend to have found it just to try and make a deal with anyone about key 2, because then if someone did agree and find key 2, the two of them wouldn't be able to claim the prize until the chest was found. I also think susb is being very smart about not giving away any clues. I think anyone in that position would probably do the same. Right now, they have a leg up on everyone else. If they happen to find key 2, they win. If someone else finds key 2, they still don't know the chest location and susb has a shot at still winning. If susb gives a clue, and then someone else finds the chest and then key 2, susb gets nothing and will probably regret giving any clues. As much as it may frustrate everyone else, susb is probably doing the smart thing by keeping things quiet.
I would like to ask though, susb, is there some sort of feedback that makes you entirely sure you have found the correct chest/it is for sure related to DBT? I know that before, you said you were 100% sure with your theory on stanza six, and then you ended up saying it was actually just coincidence. So I'm curious if that could also be the case with the chest you found?
Also, from your point of view, I think the only thing you could share that would perhaps be beneficial to you is what stanzas you used to find the chest. As I've mentioned in another thread, I'm mostly stuck right now on which stanzas are used for key 2 and which are used for the location of the chest. If chosen for the clue question in the coming months, I'd likely use a question that helps clarify that. If you were to reveal which stanzas led you to the chest, we could deduce which ones will be used for key 2. This could be beneficial to you in two ways: 1. It would ensure a clue question isn't used to clarify this in the future (which would likely be a waste to you). 2. It would help others be able to work on finding key 2 which could lead to either you finding key 2, or someone you have made a deal with finding key 2. Again, I understand completely if this isn't information you want to reveal. Whatever your decision, whether to reveal any clues or no clues, I respect your decision wholeheartedly and hope others can do the same.

Lukas confirmed the chest was found so there is no doubt they’re telling the truth about finding it.

I just read this as he confirmed someone won the whole thing! Too early in the morning.
