Bold is synonymous with conspicuous. Conspicuous is synonymous with blaze. It is much like the bold red typed “DO NOT TOUCH” in TTOTC. Seannm DO NOT TOUCH - AVOID - A VOID?

If Forrest was a stickler about grammar, I'd agree....but we know he ain't. I think he'd say why can't bold refer to me? But to go along with the thought.... It's possible he did have gold, but because he used it in the last stanza, he didn't want to use it again...so changed it to bold....and thought 'what does it matter- it rhymes and works- and I or my treasures are bold' (or better yet- it is a hint to the location and really works great) These are the things that aren't known.....and leaves us in the fog.... we try to peer through it all, and we think we can see a solution/reasoning for it all, but who's to say it isn't all an interpretational illusion- except the one who holds the treasure chest at the end? And don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining...I never mind a mystery.... So hear me all and listen good, Your effort will be worth the cold. If you are brave and in the wood I give you title to the gold. Are there any other gramatical errors in the poem? I'm not sure he would knowingly walk away from one having crafted the poem so carefully. On the other hand he does refer to his actions as bold sometimes (7/7/14): "To make that success would be the boldest move I ever made and to that end I just want it all the more.f" Which might leave us with a hint to the location which works really great. In that vein, we also can't ignore the possibility that he needed the letters in the word bold to create some sort of confirmer (b-old? An old 'b' road? - not sure if you have these over there). It is certainly a foggy puzzle! Forrest may have crafted the poem to have grammatical errors and knowingly and happily walked away- feeling he crafted it perfectly the way he wanted it to be- (with errors).. In the following video he shares thoughts on his writing....none of which follows any rules and shows he'll write what and how he wants if it serves his purpose. For instance at around the 2:30 mark- Forrest says: The Indians of Taos Pueblo practice idolatry like the Catholics……He thought it was awful to say but wanted to get a rise or reaction..... did he leave an 'error' or two (in some people's opinions) in the poem to get us to question? maybe....

Is it subterfuge if it is intentionally placed to get us to question or be curious about it? That's like a riddle..... Forrest has said: ( www.stitcher.com/podcast/isaac-cole/on-the-road-with-charlie/e/50089487Well, it’s hidden in a pretty good place. It’s difficult to find, but it certainly isn’t impossible. But if you’re gonna find the treasure, you’re gonna have to solve the riddle that’s in my poem. The nine clues that are in my poem. Nobody’s gonna happen on that treasure chest.

The entire poem (or presumably most of it) is a riddle to solve.

While I think your transcript is much funnier (and may even be right!), I've always thought that Forrest actually said "practice idolatry," which is certainly something one could argue Catholics do practice (though they would argue that the objects they venerate do not qualify as idols.) :-)

Question posted 7/7/2014: (Although the question was previously asked if the treasure location remained the same as the one Forrest had plotted to have his bones rest beside (and the answer was YES), this searcher wanted to know if it was the EXACT same spot. Forrest shares a bit more on these thoughts) Is the chest hidden in the (exact) same spot that you would like your bones to be found, or is it a short distance away for reasons beyond your control? ~ Phil The spot is the same, but in less than two months I’ll be 84 and that means many of the things to which I once aspired are no longer available to me. I still anticipate, but I may be unable to grasp such a transient pleasure before my trail shows signs of growing too weary for the journey. To make that success would be the boldest move I ever made and to that end I just want it all the more.f mysteriouswritings.com/questions-with-forrest-fenn-and-the-thrill-of-the-chase/

He says it takes "mettle enough to strike the trail..." which to me sounds like we will be the ones needing the courage, not because it's scary or dangerous, but because it takes trusting Forrest, to take him up on his "outrageous dare". And go where we wouldn't normally go? Does Forrest think all but him are unadventurous? Or was he talking just to those he believed was his 'audience': those 'couch potatoes'.....

The more I think about this.... I think Forrest hints that we won't be taking any trail........ and if that is the case, it is the creek that guides our way....
