Question posted 6/26/2014: Has anyone seen or mentioned the blaze to you? ~Stephanie Thanks Stephanie for the questions. I have read them several times very carefully. They appear subtle on the surface but they aren’t. A yes or no to either question would give too much away, so I’ll pass. Sorry, and I’m aware that some searchers will pick me apart for this answer.f What is the other question Stephanie asked? He said he read "them" so it's hard to determine what he couldn't answer... As far as Becky's question, the answer may not be a yes or no to either question. There may be more than one response. What if it could also be pre-determined by TTOTC...how could he have answered that without giving that away? She asked 2 questions so it's hard to say which he couldn't answer. Just to note: I sent the question (s) from Stephanie to Forrest, and so I'm assuming the questions Forrest refers to are just the two: 'has anyone seen?' and 'has anyone mentioned?'..... There wasn't another Q from her...

Hi Goldilocks: the two questions are "Has anyone seen the blaze" and "Has anyone mentioned the blaze to you." Clever of Forrest to realize that Stephanie's seemingly singular question had two elements, and his answer might not be the same to both of them. Suppose people have laid eyes upon the blaze (perhaps even unavoidably), but did not recognize it for what it was. How would Forrest answer?

I love this thread. I think every time he refused to answer a question it was for a good reason. Some look like snarky replies but given Sunshine’s review of his thinking, I don’t think he gives particularly unplanned replies. (You can see this in some of his replies.) I agree with Goldilocks, he is trying to not lie and at the same time not be misleading. That gives us a unique tool. We can glean some knowledge from his refusal to answer. (What he should have done was to state that he would randomly answer some questions and not others. I know that is crazy hard, got to keep track of all questions asked, is not practical, etc.) Computers are not programed with 1’s and 0’s. It is 1, 0 or nothing. For instance, one could ask the following about an unseen code to try and determine the purpose of an unseen program by asking the following: “Computer, what is in position 5,003 of the code?” The computer kicks back the answer “Nothing.” What have you learned? A ton. Every computer program larger than 5,002 bits is out. You could have asked is there 1 at position 5,003? and ran down yet another rabbit hole.
Now, what if you thought the only answer was 1 or 0, you are pretty sure the computer can’t lie but it is trying to hide the truth from you. This time the computer kicks back “I refuse to answer” because the computer is trying to hide the size of the program and does nto want to give too much away. I know, it’s a super simple analogy. But if all you think about is a 1 or 0, you are going to miss why it refused to answer.
Then the fun starts. What are the implications if it was yes? What if it was no? What if the real answer is not one of the options you gave Forrest?
I feel like most of the questions asked are wrong. "What kind of fuel did you put in your car, unleaded or diesel?" Truth: I rode a horse. If riding a horse if vital to the solve, what will/should his answer be?
I think your solve will have to reveal why he answers the way he does (most of the time).
