has ten could be hasten. Then there is "cow away". Maybe hasten cow away with horn.

"Deliberately placed" to me means in a particular order or sequence, so for example the first hint found corresponds with clue # 1 etc. I don't read it as placed in the book deliberately. I agree.

I sometimes wonder if 'not deliberately placed' just means Forrest wrote what he wanted, and then later noticed his writing could be connective and contained hints to the poem.....not so much because he 'placed hints in the book', but because both the poem and his writings reveal things about his life, how he thinks, etc....

I would say that could also be true but don't forget the words on the inside dust jacket, "Unlock the clues that are scattered among these pages..." Scattered also insinuates not deliberately placed (in order).

Agree, Goldilocks. I think "not deliberately placed" is just a statement that, unlike the clues in the poem which are in order, the clues/hints in the book are not organized. Per Forrest:
1MW Featured Question: Order of Clues and Hints (12/11/2014): "Dear Mr. Fenn, You say the clues in the poem are to be followed in consecutive order. You have also said the book holds subtle hints. Are these ‘subtle hints’ in consecutive order (in relation to how they help with clues in the poem) too? ~ Thank you, joseph."
FF: "That's right joseph, you should start with the first clue and follow the others consecutively to the treasure. Hints in the book are not that organized. f"

I think like the Map with the frog, again, we don't know which is correct..... (is it a hint or not)...
....the hints in the book could be just there by being Forrest's writing on his life, etc.... or he did deliberately used certain words/phrases/topics/etc. to offer hints to solving the poem, but they scattered...
I don't think we can say for sure either way.....
