Thanks to all who participated, especially those that submitted solutions.
Here is a complete solve for Hunt Number 3.
A score table with results of submissions received is also posted below the solve.
This hunt used a trick I had not seen used by another hunt, so was a bit of an experiment.
Did that throw our participants off for a day or two as hoped, not a chance.
Well done everyone, I guess I am going to have to become more devious to catch you out.
Each pair of lines in the verses contained some lyrics to songs. the song title or the name of the artist(s) contained a chemical element for the first six lines of each verse, and the last two lines indicated a compass direction
My favorite song, my little melody
If we could be a symphony.
A song called "Melody" by a guy called CADMIUM (1 point)
I open my eyes and decide
The day is not for me.
A song called "ANTIMONY" by a group called Parlez (1 point)
Even though i know that i'm gonna regret it all tomorrow
I will let the sorrow fall where it may.
A song called "The Morning after" by a group called ZINC
(1 point)
With each year, our color fades.
Slowly, our paint chips away (North - Sleeping At Last)
A song called "NORTH" by a group called Sleeping at Last (1 Point)
I'm trying but I keep falling down
I cry out but nothing comes now.
A song called "HELIUM" by Sia (1 point)
Lovin' what I'm tastin'
Venom on my tongue.
A song called "CHLORINE" by 21 Pilots (1 Point)
Sun burns the charcoal into fine glass
Beneath the coral undersea grass.
A song called "ZIRCONIUM GUN" by a group called Visqueen (1 point)
When I was young, I fell in love
We used to hold hands, man, that was enough.
A song called EASTSIDE" by Benny Blanco, Khalid, Halsey (1 point)
From the above you would have got
Cadmium
Antimony
Zinc
North
Helium
Clorine
Zirconium
East
the chemical element number is then substituted for each element resulting in
48 (1 point)
51 (1 point)
30 (1 point)
North
2 (1 point)
17 (1 point)
40 (1 point)
East
Finally, it should become obvious that what we have is a geographical coordinate
48°51'30.0"N, 2°17'40.0"E (1 point)
Using google maps if we search that location we find that we are at the location of
The Eiffel Tower (1 point)
FINAL SOLUTION
EIFFEL TOWER
RESULTS
There was a potential score of 16 points.
There were 4 entries and each entry scored maximum points.
Congrats everyone, thanks for taking part
NEXT HUNT WILL BE POSTED ON 1st MAY
A Request if you would be so kind.
Could I ask you please to answer the poll I set up in a separate thread
mysteriouswritings.proboards.com/thread/4405/poll
These hunts are made for the enjoyment of the participant.
They are not designed to be especially hard, each should be solvable by most who take part, and certainly should not take more than a few evenings at most to solve.
They are in effect the 'tea time crossword' equivalent of the main hunts that you will find elsewhere on Jenny's fantastic forum.
I have no intention of making these hunts super difficult or extremely time consuming to solve. The expectation should always be that each hunt should be solvable by the majority who participate and never take more than a few evenings work
Having said that it seems the previous hunts have been solved by some extraordinarily quickly.
So I would appreciate if you would take the time to do a quick poll. Link above
Based on the results I will alter the difficulty or time taken if that is what you the participants want.
