Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone other than myself had listened to the free Paraliminal that comes with the book. I did, and I think everyone else might want to as well even though it is kind of a pain to get. I can't remember where exactly in the book it mentions listening to the Paraliminal or visiting the online site or something - I thought it was just a shameless plug to the author's company - but I listened to it and found some useful information towards the end that relates directly to the book and the hunt/final location. I'd say the last two minutes of the recording.
I feel it relates to the ugly man made tower the group comes across near the quarry - let me know what you think!

You're taking about the finding treasure one? Yeah I listened to it. I thought it was interesting that the music in the background sounds like one of those Balinese flutes (that's what I think is the physical treasure that's hidden). But I didn't catch a reference to the quarry...care to share your thoughts?

Sure - at the end when the voice splits in to two and starts talking about "the group looking for treasure", it mentions them finding a high point from which they can look out see everything/the path through the forest that they need to take. It reminded me of the tower near the quarry. It's the only type of look-out point mentioned in the book.
Edit: To me it seemed kind of obvious that the "group" looking for the treasure mentioned in the paraliminal was a reference to the group in the book. Why would it mention a group when paraliminals are supposed to be about self improvement? Just my thoughts.

I just re listened to it. Around 9:40 it starts talking about compasses, steps, forest of clues, 2 members of a team climbing to the top of the canopy where they can see the lay of the land and each marker to be found etc. The darn thing is way longer than I remembered lol

Ah yes, that part! That's earlier on in the recording but yes that thought did cross my mind. I think the "official" explanation is that the team assembling is supposed to represent different aspects of yourself gathering together for one coherent purpose (I can't remember exactly but I believe that track would have been in the left ear, speaking to the right brain, which typically uses metaphorical and story-like imagery to present a concept to the creative side of your brain). But I'm not ruling out that it might have a hidden meaning as well.

I tend to read into things very literally. I thought it was hard to ignore considering the hunt and all. Glad I wasn't imagining things! I'll have to listen again and see what the two team members are supposed to represent.

I was wondering if someone who has figured out how to access the free paraliminal would share how to find it. I sure would appreciate it.

I'm also thinking chapter "Do You Have a Compass", with TIM / MIT (they go to a look-out point) .... "as the MOCKINGBIRD flies".
edit: previously mentioned that the :"ampersand" <> nap's dream, which is what Nels was doing.

Generally, I don't like bringing in external references while working puzzles, but not sure whether Pete is on this one (I've found what looks like several BIBLE in the book)
"The first Stooges short to employ this theme was 1935's Pardon My Scotch; in later shorts the song was replaced with "Three Blind Mice." "

Been inside a coal mine Been inside a whale Been inside a grief just like a jail
On that morning, dressed in black I began my journey back Through old cobwebs colors blew >From my footsteps shadows flew
Through these eyes of light now I begin to know All good things in time will come and go

Are you relating those lyrics to what 'as the mockingbird flies' means?

"Are you relating those lyrics to what 'as the mockingbird flies' means?"
In a very weak way. It's not clear how far Pete is wandering from the material in the book.
The popular expression is "as the crow flies", so Pete seems to have put MOCKINGBIRD in there for a reason.
e.g., State Bird, etc.

Mocking birds, copy or mock sounds they hear, so that compass chapter or some other event could be a copy of the real spot.
