. I've previously said that there are dozens of coding methods in Fandango, and hundreds (thousands) of coded messages. Here, I wont be discussing what the purpose of these messages is, and whether they aid or distract.
I'll post and example of each, and I'll add to this thread as time allows. I'll start with a code(s) that I don't recall seeing posted, there are many
Skip codes (ELS)
The text before the p. 30 image refers to Harley Quinns place as a mess. On p. 30, the globe is divided into increments of 10.
Starting with the C in CIRCLE, take every tenth letter.
Abbreviations
Harley Quinn's acrostic / acronym is HQ. This is an abbreviation for Head Quarters, and Harley indicated that he found things in his mind / head.
Acrostics
On p. 11, the back-end letters of the words A GIFT FOR THE WIND, give the acrostic A T RED, AT RED. At the RED T coming off the piano keys and blending into the red border, on sees the "eagle wing". The wing is actually comprised of several images; looks like I cant attach images, so look closely and find the object with the tread.
Text Alignment
In the back of the book, under Rules, the End Date 2020 is given. Some have recognized that this may also relate to vision. Look at the right hand margin letters and find the word SEE.

So - I’ve seen the Harley Quinn/ HQ / Headquarters comparison before; but for the first time while reading your post I had thought ‘headquarters -> head on quarter -> George Washington?’
I have not explored this yet - only to find a quick google search shows the town of Trenton, ME just over the causeway of the island was named in honor of Washington’s battle at Trenton.
I wonder if there is any other history connecting Washington to MDI?
I googled the Maine quarter. It has a lighthouse on the back similar to the one or the book (though it’s not the exact same one)

The mint on the quarter is 2012. Cool find, but I think it's someone else trying to capitalize on the hunt.

eos that’s a strange coincidence. This is the website I found: www.usmint.gov/coins/coin-medal-programs/50-state-quarters/maineAccording to this, the Maine quarter was minted in 2003, not 2012. And the lighthouse is the Pemaquid Point Light, not Bass Harbor. So the timing of the quarter is still works for the hunt- but it definitely isn’t the same lighthouse. Definitely a cool find though.

. I see the penguin books ISBN being discussed on another thread so I will add to the acrostic application mentioned in the first post
IN THE LAKE OF THE WOODS
TIM O’BRIEN
Penguin ISBN O14 O
I LOW TO PIO (POI / point of interest) ..... this is next to Harleys I / eye ... his eye to point of
PIO also means “more” and PI O means “turn off” ...
PIO has a numerical value of 40
PAEC FORTY SOUTH
**********
PAEC FORTY SOUTH PFS SPF seen on flag on p. 17

. Text and Image
Drock started a thread called W 2. I’ll use the idea to givecan example of linking images and text
On p. 30, The bottom most book on the right is purple and has the following on the spine
WH GO
West H GO
On the opposing page 31 ends with the words “ go west “. I think there
The WH seems to have multiple uses. Two are WH = 31, and the opposing page is 31 ... go to page 31.
H = 8 and p 31 has 8 lines, and the 8th line is 8 words[/b]

. Polybius
The books on Harleys shelf give C I X which is the same as on Abenakis leg
The flowers next to EYE on p. 19 give “I”
P. 47 gives a phrase mixed in with “gobbledygook” as Wind says, and includes the word STOP ... also said by Wind
To start, invert the grid per the “topsy turvy” hint and eliminate the I (per Fandangos closed eye)
i havent gotten anything for p. 19 possible polybius yet

. The Grids (1927614 example)
It has been shown that the grids on pp. 11, 17, and 40 may be used to generate the “see Masquerade hint” ... but there are other applications as well. Colors is one. Another is numerical position. The 1927614 (p. 19) code applied to grids on page 11 and 40 yields ASDAME .... where the lady on p. 40 is referred to as a dame in the text.
