. While im extremely disappointed this is over, i feel forrest fulfilled his obligation by announcing the treasure has been found. I dont think that forrest or the finder owe searchers the location or solution. I agree that it would have been even worse if Fenn hadnt said anything. However, it is still reasonable to expect that the solution is made available to any puzzle after the contest is over, EVEN if it was "free" to participate. Or was it free? I invested thousands of hours. And maybe Fenn used the chase as a marketing event to promote the unique service "buy the solution and find a treasure" for a few million dollars... Or even if it is true that Fenn made zero dollars on this chase, that is actually no excuse not to follow up by providing the solution. However, had he said in his books or on his webpage "just so you know, I may not reveal the solution even if it is found, so you will just have to trust me, ok?" then I would have accepted that. But that is not how the deal was made. The fact that we were lured to invest thousands of hours DOES make us stakeholders, there is no way around that. That does not mean I am not very grateful to those who create treasure hunts for us. But we cant really be grateful unless there is transparency to what it is that was actually given to us. I will never be grateful for things that are said to be treasure hunts but in fact turn out to be wild ghost chases. Not saying this was such a case, because I have no way of knowing that yet.

I'd have a bit more sympathy for your point if you said "I bought the book". How you spend your time is no concern of Forrest's, but if you feel that buying the book entitles you to some sort of 'closure', well, maybe.

Nope and nope.

“The fact that we were lured to invest thousands of hours DOES make us stakeholders, there is no way around that.” Nope and nope. I agree Heidini. This may be a bad analogy but to me it’s similar to gambling in a casino. Everyone knew the odds going in - there would only be one winner. And everyone gambled on the chase with free will. No one asks the casino to reimburse anything when they lose. Or to explain the house secrets how the slots or games work. It doesn’t matter how much time you spent studying the rules of poker, blackjack, craps, etc. You lost. You freely invested that time and money. FF and the finder don’t owe anyone anything, imo.

If you guys were given the one-page solution, would you even be able to tell that it is the one true, correct, authentic solution? There is so much mis-information out there that most of you will just smirk. A few may be able to look through their bias and see the light.
Here it is, the solution. Go to Google Maps and type in coordinates 36.6355, -106.2105 to view the blaze.

If the finding was orchestrated, it would have been found on 23 May, 23.5 = Tropic of Cancer latitude. Then announcement on 6/6 = FF, then explanation and closure on 22 June = Summer Equinox

I did buy all of his books, even though I dont think it is relevant. He did donate the proceeds to charity.
