In the summer of 2018 and after working on the chase for five years, I thought I had finally successfully married all the clues to a map. For many years, I thought I had the first eight clues solved, but that summer I finally found a worthy blaze! It was a 10 ft. x 10 ft. capital 'F' on top of a 30 ft. x 30 ft. boulder!!! Here is a visual I created to memorialize those three magical, whimsical days alone in the wilderness and everything that happened during it. And I promise you all of it happened. My Three Day Journey (from hoB - Full solve below):My Blaze (10 ft. x 10 ft. capital 'F' on 30 ft. x 30 ft. boulder - Also known as "Butt Rock"):Full Solve (Yellowstone (Northeast Entrance)/Warm Creek Picnic Area/Slough Creek/Soldiers Trail Nine Clue Solve):
1. WWWH - Start where the Warm Creek (warm water) Picnic Area Road touches both Montana and Wyoming in Yellowstone/between Warm Creek Picnic Area and Warm Creek Trail on Highway 212. 2. TICD - Take Highway 212 down Icebox Canyon (canyon). 3. TFTW - Go 22 miles. 4. hoB - Take a right at Slough Creek Road (Brown = Buffalo Plateau/Bison Peak/Buffalo Creek/Slough Creek merging all together). 5. NPFTM - Prepare to go into bear country. 6. EIEDN - Park your car at Slough Creek campground off to the left (drawing nigh). 7. NPUYC/HLWH - Ford (water high) Slough Creek at Buffalo Creek and start hiking (no paddle up your creek) along Slough Creek up Soldiers Trail (heavy loads). 8. BWFTB - Go off-trail in a rainbow shape until you come to the end of the rainbow and see a 10 ft x 10 ft capital 'F' on top of a 30 ft x 30 ft boulder. 9. LQDQC - Go into the hole under the boulder and it's there. I will remember every second of that trip for the rest of my life! mm
