Been looking at this puzzle for the past week while waiting for my copy of 'The Hidden Sun' to arrive.
Text:
I agree that Glastonbury Tor is a good fit for the first location/landmark. You get there with the very first word.
Since there's only one, I believe that 'towers' is meant to be read as a verb as in 'towers above'. 'historical walls' could be those of the ruined abbey.
But where do we find the 'Great Pyramid'? There's a Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival which is said to be modelled on the Great Pyramid of Giza, so that fits.
The word 'falls' trips me up though, maybe because I'm not a native speaker.
And the two eyes? Whose eyes?
It's also amazing the tidbits of trivia you encounter when searching the internet.
A jubilee crown? It's a coin that was minted in 1977 for the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II, but no link to Glastonbury. There's a raven called Jubilee at the Tower of London where the crown jewels are kept...
Wait, Elizabeth II? 'II' is two i's, no? The things the mind comes up with when looking for connections.
Another example? Almost straight south from the Pyramid stage is a stone circle built in 1992. It's a circle of stones (I know, duh), with a couple of stones in the middle and two stones outside the circle. Is the circle meant to be the 'jubilee crown' and the two extra stones the eyes? Unlikely, but it might. Maybe the Stonehenge in the visual (and yes it is Stonhenge), is simply meant to represent the idea of a circle of stones?
Second location/landmark seems to confirm Stonehenge which you primarily get from the visual.
Third location/landmark pointed me towards Greenwich Park.
'Banks of man’s innermost seas'? No idea, might be/contain an anagram.
'Surrounded by ghosts'? There are burial mounds in the park.
'Shade of oak trees'? Not certain but problably you find oak trees there. Used to be at least one...
'Playful with nature the kings and the queens,'? Queen Elizabeth’s Oak maybe?
'Mirror the scenes'? No idea
Fourth location/landmark? Nothing but a few loose ideas that don't fit with the whole.
'Mills of the city'? Manchester?
'Cycles in sync as the curvatures bend'? A velodrome? The bends in the Thames before and after it flows past the London Eye (which resembles a biCYCLE wheel)?
'Churning of time'? Big Ben or something other clock-related?
Rest of the visual:
The white horse rampant: Kent?
Druid: I found the original stock photo and it's interesting to note that three additions have been made to the original. The Red and white caduceus, the fleur-de-lis, and the small stick at the top of the staff making it a cross. They must be significant, but no idea how. The rock she is standing on was also added and is not part of the Stonehenge photo (which I also recovered).
The skull: Yorick? Burial mounds?
174 Hz linked to pain relief? I could do with some by now.
There's a connection between 174 Hz and 'SLEEP' but no idea how that helps. Maybe we only need 'Solfeggio' as an anagram?
The borders:
No idea. Don't see any clues or hints that point in a 'Masquerade'-like use. Anagrams maybe?
Did discover that a solar sonnet is a type of wind chime.
Going to be so happy when the solution is revealed and I can slap myself for overthinking this puzzle...
