I don't understand why the solver would want to remain anonymous? I mean they are missing out on some serious treasure hunter bragging rights lol I mean its not like it was a 1 million dollar chest or something! Even if they did solve it from information shared here, which I'd say they did, that is what this group is for and is about, to share and help each other while doing what you love treasure hunting. Congratulations again whoever you are! he said the finder was going to do an interview with him so they might be holding out for that. That’s the only possible reasoning. I agree, the bragging rights are all we have on the lower value hunts. I don’t think a grand will push anyone into the next tax bracket or anything.

so did 'each of you are equal and the competition fair' mean nothing? that's what I've been focusing on for the past few months

Yeah... I felt like Einstein watching the video. The part where he says this hunt was meant to bring people together, sharing ideas etc. etc. though was where he really nailed it. A big KUDOS to so many of you who brought in so many brilliant and creative ideas out! In the end, reading all your ideas and discussions were far more interesting as what the solve turned out to be and for me, that was the best part of this hunt.

so did 'each of you are equal and the competition fair' mean nothing? that's what I've been focusing on for the past few months I guess it was just instruction/description after all. Heh. I was there with you. I was sourcing that stanza as the mechanics of the key rather than repurposing the same stanza. #trickytricky

I’m not sure what he was talking about when he said his return email address was grush... I got emails from him and the return address was digitalburiedtreasure.
Did anyone see grush as a return address?

Oh, wait. It did say grush411. The text name was Digital Buried Treasure but the actual email address was grush411. I totally missed that!!

I wasn't close, haha. What was the incorrect rabbit hole you pursued the most? For me it was the house a couple streets over from Ace Hardware, 29730 Hillcrest. Street view literally lets you view INSIDE the house. When I explored the rooms, there was a key symbol and a "Eureka" vacuum in the same room! I was convinced they had to be part of the hunt.
PS - This was my first armchair treasure hunt and my first post here. I joined the game late and I was creeping on the forum a lot, and you guys helped more than you know when things got tough. So, thank you for your willingness to collaborate and share!

My rabbit hole was trying to incorporate a Playfair cipher!

You know what, though? I personally think that his May hint wasn't correct and that contributed to the rabbit holes. The question was basically Can Key 2 be found just from street view in that map area? He said it's a tricky question, but the answer was yes, with some manipulation.
But really the correct answer was no because you had to do another google search to find Key 2.
I think that's why so many people were trying to tweak just what they saw and didn't pursue having to find more information on the web.
That's just my opinion.

I tried key2 tester as flowersbythesea10 (ace values in card games), flowersbythesea101, etc... Then we get that key 2 is twelve characters. BUT I'M PORTUGUESE GOD DAMMIT 😅and I never paid any attention to that idea for the key since I was focusing on just what I got on that piece of street.

Yeah, I agree. Before I gave up on the hunt, I was trying to tweak what I saw tons of different ways. I wonder how the winner thought to go to google, based on the May hint saying we didn't need to. Maybe it was a newcomer who didn't see the hint.

I was going down the ship route for a while, especially with the model ship appearing in multiple videos. From the videos, I guessed that the ship depicted was a clipper, and researched clipper shipwrecks, and famous clippers in general (like the Cutty Sark). Obviously that was wrong because it was all about the Carrack! I must have googled Flor de la Mar multiple times, especially since it was included in the mini hunt. I thought the "across" referred to the Marstall building and I was looking for "tall" ships, and the word Marstall. I was also thrown by the hint answer. I appended the 11 and the 1 (either, or, both, etc.) representing Ace to front and back of multiple guesses, as well as the actual word "ace." I can't believe I never put two and two together and tried Flor de la Mar!!!! UGH. Congrats to the winner!

I didn’t know flor de la mer was in the mini hunt! I stopped following those after the first two. That probably explains how the winner got that.

Sorry, couldn't work on this as life took over.
I'm certainly not the winner haha, I left off where we all left off: at Ace
I had some promising leads, but I just couldn't make the time anymore.
Was the solution announced yet?
