There are what I would call very informative clues within these scrapbooks.
Firstly 'Scrapbook 211 'Requiem for a Wreck' it shows a fairly large photo of his broken nearside Jeep mirror. It is very close in shape to the geometry I worked with on the map of Colorado, starting with a prism. It reveals a large triangle similar to the prism and a more slender one alongside it, the only difference being the slender one was formed inside the larger one, not on the outside, however the similarities are uncanny.
Scrapbook 218 'Kids Toys' This immediately relates to the TIME theory from 'Important Literature' for TIME Magazine was in the trash. TIME adds up to 47 atomic number for Silver. In the Zodiac Sign 1 is Aries and sign 7 is Libra they are opposite each other. 1 is 'A' and 7 is 'G' and 'AG' is silver. Forrest in relating to his pedal car says "If I was fifty years younger I'd maybe go back to temple and excavate the dump. Forrest is currently 89. So 89 - 50 = 39.
I believed Silver was buried in the trash 1 to 7 on the Zodiac, which halves it. On a clock face 3 and 9 are opposites and they are also opposites. I believe that Forrest has used both 'trash' and 'dump' as relating to something buried at the site. Excavate suggests digging. If 17 is AG Silver and you read the clock numerals the same way as the Zodiac you would get: 'SILVER I SEE' for 9 is 'I' and 3 is 'C.' Food for thought. Incidentally we know there is no 'X' in the poem but did you know that in the book there is no mention of Indigo or Violet as rainbow colors?. As an interesting aside: INDIGO anagrams to 'NO I DIG' and 'VIOLET' anagrams to 'LOVE IT'
