I know not everyone likes Facebook and/or Twitter, but please post here any updates from those sources. Thanks! I'll start:
November 13, 2020: It's come to our attention that some readers may be having trouble with page breaks and hyphenated words.
If you are having these issues, please note that there are no clues based on page breaks or hyphenated words.
Each of the four chapters leads to one item.
No clues are based on hyphenation.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Good luck and have fun!
November 13, 2020: It has been reported that in Chapter 4, a character may be driving the incorrect vehicle.
This is not a clue; it is an error by the writer, but it has no effect on the solution to that chapter.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
November 13, 2020: Reported error, Chapter One: After the group has lunch and gets back on the road, the word HE is missing from a sentence. It is an error, not a clue, and does not affect either the story or the hidden message:
***Patrick jotted in the notebook he had purchased at the Travel Center.***
A reader reports that at the beginning of chapter two, a sentence right after Erin Stanton's comment on getting $500 is cut off. Here's how this passage should read, along with the first few words of the next line:
***Neil Hawthorne grinned, said, "And I'll spend mine mostly on room service."
After the others had received***
----We believe this is a problem only with this reader's display, and should not affect other readers. If you have similar instances where you believe a sentence may cut off early, please report them.
Thank you, sorry for any inconvenience.

Posted on FB 11/17: www.facebook.com/GreatUSTreasure/Ponds and fountains are bodies of water. No items are hidden within 50 feet of a body of water. Therefore, no items are hidden within 50 feet of a pond or fountain. Or lakes, streams, rivers, rivulets, creeks, waterfalls, oceans, bays, canals, reservoirs, pools, or any other body of water not specifically named as a body of water. Yes, even marshes. No swamps. Stay 50 feet from a body of water.

November 18, 2020:
Let's discuss anagrams. Can they be used as part of a solution, if a solution has to be spelled out as shown in the introduction to the book, such as ZILKERPARKPHILOSOPHERSROCKEGYPTCOIN?
Maybe?
Happy to help!

November 25, 2020:
4 items to find are still out there, but you can safely stay on the couch until you've figured out how to decode any chapter. Each hidden item is worth $10,000...and if none are found by December 13, we'll start tossing clues your way!

On twitter 12/11: The Great U.S. Treasure Hunt @greatustreasure ยท Dec 11 You locked down in California?
Good news! We haven't hidden anything in California!
So you can solve a chapter, team up with someone in another state (who is allowed to leave their house), they get the item, you earn $9k, they get a $1k finder's fee! #treasurehunt #notincali

Anyone else have Twitter, FB, and their website all open on different tabs? I hit refresh every few minutes. They have an hour left to make their deadline.
