I wanted to share with everyone that I received a response from Pel to a solution I sent where I indicated that if I was wrong (I was) that I still had a lot of fun working on Fandango over the last year or so and was very much looking forward to the solution reveal. In his response, he indicated that he would post the solution, but before doing so he needed to go and "verify that the key had not been found" and that given the current travel restrictions it may take a little while before he is able to do so and therefore provide the solution. I take that to mean the key will still be out there for at least another couple of weeks. Whether he would honor a solve/find after the end date is unknown, but my guess is he would. Continue the hunt! (or finally rip up your book in frustration - whatever you're feeling, go with it )

Or at least over the weekend — he's in Boston and can just drive up to MDI if he really wanted to check it out and see. Not quite that simple. Maine rules for out-of-state visitors:
"All out-of-state travelers coming into Maine, and Maine residents returning to Maine, must either receive a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arrival or complete a 14-day quarantine, per the Keep Maine Healthy plan."

I'm not sure how the presence or absence of the key in its hiding space affects the posting of the solution. Just enlighten us all ready.

For what it is worth, the Stockwell's have a sister that lives right here on MDI. It could be possible that they would have her check out the final spot. I know her quite well and she always thought the final spot was Sieur de Mont, but she did not even know. Poe

Clues and the master riddle will be revealed after the End Date either on a website or in a subsequent publication. The actual Treasure is contained in a safety deposit box in a secure location. Should the treasure be unclaimed at the End Date, the value of the treasure (over $10,000) will be donated to a charity of the Sponsor’s choice. The treasure is in a safety deposit box, and if the treasure is not claimed by today, the treasure goes to charity. Why would he need to check if the key is still there? Say he goes there and the key is gone, what then?

This is what worries me.... Clues and the master riddle will be revealed after the End Date either on a website "OR IN A SUBSEQUENT PUBLICATION." what if they choose to write another book with the solution... Will we have to wait a year, then purchase another book to find out what the solution is? I'm not sure how the presence or absence of the key in its hiding space affects the posting of the solution. Yes, please just tell me this was Pel covering all the legal angles, just in case. He can't drag this out more than 13 years. I am a totally reasonable man, and I would never threaten anyone, but for god sake if there is not a solution given in reasonable time, I can't be held responsible for what I do. I've been cooped up all year, I've been looking forward to this for years, I went to Bar Harbor, and I have great memories of it, please just give us the answer so I have something and I don't go nuts

IMO what’s going on is it’s in a place that maybe his sister doesn’t know about and would be tough for him to describe to her how to get. I agree, he could just use her to grab it. This also tells me he may not have checked on the key in quite some time. Let’s give it a few days. I know.. I know.. we are all excited

I don't think we'll have to wait long. My impression is that he doesn't want to post the solution, have someone then go get the key and claim that they had it all along and for whatever reason didn't get in touch before the end date. Legally he probably would not be obligated to award the prize, but why take the risk?
I think he'll make his way to MDI in the coming weeks and then post the solution. But I do believe that gives us another week or maybe two to try and figure this thing out.

And what happens if the key is not there and the treasure is not claimed? No go on the solution forever, then?
13 years is a long time. I don't want another week to work on it. If it hasn't been figured out in 13 years, I'm going to go way out on a limb and say it's not going to be solved.

I've only been at it for about 18 months, so I'm excited by the prospect of another week as it has been a fun diversion for me in a very challenging 2020. But I certainly understand that others may view a delay in the reveal as just another frustration of 2020. I'm willing to make the assumption that the key is still sitting where Pel put it 13+ years ago, and that we'll know the location in a few weeks. But I'm happy to have a little more time to try to beat him to it!

Well, technically, if you just don't read the solution, you can work on it for the rest of your life. The actual treasure hunt is now over. Realistically, a lot of people have been working on for a long time. I don't think it's very likely another week or so is going to make a difference. Nobody solved it. We'll see if anybody get even close, but I've never seen a posted solution that really solved the master riddle and led to a specific location that really nailed it.
I don't think the travel restrictions are going to lift in a couple weeks. It's going to be quite a while. Maine is one of the few non-red states now, and they're getting close to breakout level. They went from 20ish cases a day in Oct to now 180+ a day and still rising.
