I like this solution because it's pretty much the same as one of mine. Great minds think a like, haha. I did not trust my own solution because I read that they had paved Oak Leaf Trail in 1978 so I didn't think it fit for " over rock and soil" at that point. But I like the horses southern foot because it is behind the wall and Preiss loves walls.

I don't love this solution because you posted it yesterday and I was standing next to the Wolcott statue on Saturday!! (LOL - I'm kidding, it's great!). See image.

I walked "exactly" the route you have drawn on your map with the purple line. I checked out the waterfall, tried to figure out why the staircase is 92 steps on one line and grand 200 in another (I have a theory), and took pictures of every one of the 8 lions. I'm going to post my best image of the P. Kupper for Choice on the other thread where we talked about the dates. I checked the ground where Hobbs thinks it was buried by the Delta mark... interesting story there. Anyway... more to come in other posts with pics. Leave you with this for now:

Hey I like it because as you’ll see in some of the other threads the Wolcott statue was my favored spot too. I was at the front right hoof of Gunpowder rather than at the rear, but if the paver stones have been there 40 years it’s just not possible. I’ve heard the back part of the statue has been extensively dug over the years for what it’s worth.
Thanks for posting that picture of the lion davem, so much for the Kupper theory because no way Byron would have buried the casque on that side of the lion, too exposed. Had it been on the other side it would have been a different story. If you have pictures of some of the other lions as well I’m definitely interested in seeing them!

I have at least one picture of all of them, I think. I'll line the links up here in this post but won't paste in the pictures themselves. That'll take up too much room. From South to North (usually they are numbered the other way around I think but this is the order that I took the pictures in so easier for me this way )First lion signature: imgur.com/B1dkxzT1st Closer: imgur.com/wQoTrckFirst lion: imgur.com/lZbZsBHSecond lion: imgur.com/fvjdAqfBridges: imgur.com/vnwiY4mThird lion: imgur.com/I9CzUbXThird lion: imgur.com/2cFMYqWThird lion & lighthouse: imgur.com/acFp6XoFourth lion signature: imgur.com/xEZY09KFourth lion: imgur.com/etPCmiMSeventh lion signature: imgur.com/8nVIRe2Seventh lion portrait: imgur.com/1MDj5oIEighth lion: imgur.com/IRTRiL5Guess I didn't get all of them. But the signature on "Seventh" is definitely the best one.
